About this deal

Here is a vast moored craft rigged with airborne stone, the mothership of England’s ecclesiastical fleet; also the site of an assassination whose drama gripped the nation eight-and-a-half centuries ago and has never really let go since then. Fun tour with a funny guide - definitely recommended to learn more about the history of the city and see it and its historic buildings from new angles. But one of the most important parts of the great experience is the charming old building and great service.

I ended my walking tour on the north end of the city centre, on Mill Lane, where there was once a grain mill.So if you have difficulty with stairs this may not be the place for you, it is though a fantastic place for hide and seek 😁. As befitting a medieval, Canterbury is divided into a series of easy-to-navigate historic areas and quarters, each with their own distinctive character. was awarded to Canterbury partners for 2022/24 to make the streets of its city safer for all members of the public and in particular for women and girls. This will inform the development of resources that raise awareness of such crimes, increase the level of support for victims/survivors and work towards prevention and early intervention. The owner apologized that he had no first editions or signed copies, then apologized again when he discovered all he had were paperbacks.

When William the Conqueror came through after the Battle of Hastings in 1066, the people of Canterbury sensibly did not put up a fight. After the visit we have the possibility to chat with the guardian about the tower and its use during the WWII! Additionally, Westgate Gardens is home to a 200 year-old plane tree and a Victorian Tower House, both of which are interesting attractions in their own right.Really clear water and view from the foot bridge south of the park however the main park itself is not as amazing. These Gardens are located at a 5min walking distance from the Cantebury West Railway station, right next to the West Gate.

Nevertheless, the staff were nice and friendly, the room was quiet and the bed was super comfy, so I can only imagine the deficiencies fall onto management decisions. Liam served the drinks and Taylor took care of the rest, thank you guys and thanks too to back of house. Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Every staff member has treated me so amazingly, even helping me to my door with food, and it's so close to everything I want to see in Canterbury.

Breakfast was very enjoyable, We were made to feel very comfortable and the food of excellent quality. If you are visiting and come from the bus station head down towards Westgate towers at the very bottom of the high street, you can’t miss Westgate towers! Part of the Queens green canopy initiative, one of 70 ancient woodlands and trees as part of her Platinum Jubilee.

In its architecture, as in its position in the Anglican hierarchy, it is second to none, no disrespect to the later and more unified majesty of St Paul’s. I had a room that overlooked the busy crossroads on the 3rd floor and didn't hear any noise from the traffic - and the view over to the cathedral was marvellous. It has been altered and refurbished since I was there in the late 80s but it's very nice and well done, modern but still keeping its old world charm. My friend was looking forward to trying their pie but the vegetarian pie was a complete letdown unfortunately. The Gate in Stour Street is opened at 12:00 to permit access to chapel for service only during winter closure. I must say even with what I'd consider to be is a pretty good internal compass I still resorted to using Google maps! Apparently menu is new (April 2023) and the food we had was absolutely and uniformly excellent, good value and service both very efficient and welcoming. The park offers a variety of recreational areas including riverside walks, scenic gardens, a play area for children and a picnic spot, so there's something for everyone to enjoy.
