About this deal

Thank you to the publisher, Inkyard Press, for providing me with an ARC of The Iron Sword in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

What?” I blinked at her, wide-eyed. “That happened at only one Elysium, and no one could prove what went wrong.” The biannual event where the faery courts came together to discuss politics and review treaties while parading around in fancy clothes was just as boring as it sounded. For my own sanity, I made it a point to spice things up every once in a while. “Though come on, admit that watching Mab’s carriage walk in circles the whole way out was hilarious.”Keirran, son of the Iron Queen, former prince of the Iron Court and King of the Forgotten, faced me calmly in the shadows cast by the Ferris wheel. No. I’m not in any trouble, but…” Keirran hesitated, a slight furrow creasing his brow. “Something strange is happening in the Between,” he admitted. “There have been…incidents, with the Forgotten. Violent incidents, which is not like them at all. And the Between itself is… It doesn’t feel right, if that makes any sense.” He sighed, sounding frustrated and, for a moment, looking years younger. “I don’t know what’s going on, and that worries me,” he muttered. “I was hoping Mom or someone from the Iron Court would be able to help. I certainly can’t bring my concerns to Summer or Winter.” The Forgotten King scrubbed a hand over his hair in an eerily familiar way. He was so much like a mini Ash it almost hurt. “I don’t know if I’m being paranoid,” he said. “It’s my realm, I should be able to take care of this myself. I don’t want to bother the monarchs of the other courts if it’s not important. But…” His eyes narrowed. “I guess you should know the real reason I came. The Forgotten aren’t acting normal, and…there is this thing out there, stalking them through the Between.” While Ash has grown from his Winter Prince days, he also has that darkness within him that comes with being Unseelie that he seems to be tip-toeing the edge of the entire book. Long-time fans will know and see he's developed from The Iron Knight now that it's been years down the line, but newer readers who jump right into this series might feel a little differently. As much as I enjoyed getting into Ash's head again, I think I was slightly disappointed because there are plenty of times where Kagawa dips into darker elements and just... doesn't.

The Iron Queen glared at us all. "All those things, I suppose," she said in a flat voice that hinted at retribution later on. Generally, I find a dagger is a much better alternative to stopping someone's heart than a surprise party. Upon meeting with the other rulers of Faery, giving warning about the new threat, Evenfall and about the danger from the new fey, Evenfey. To learn more about Evenfall, Ash and group travel to the mortal world where they believe the source of the Evenfey are coming from, a social media company called Insight. There they discover a horrifying truth known as the Nightmare King, the truth about Evenfall and where they face their deepest fears. Despite their best effort, the path of Evenfall and rise of the Nightmare King looms over them as he threatens to destroy the Nevernever for good. As always, Kagawa's character interactions stole the show for me. I love her dialogue and laughed out loud numerous times. The Iron Ravens chapter with their home planet of Taltos were lost to the Warp. After the Great Rift's appearing, the Inquisition and the Raven Guard faced the possibility that the planet Taltos had reappeared, and that perhaps the Chapter based there fell to worship Chaos God Nurgle, turning into Raptors. [5] Reborning of the Chapter The vendors at the various booths came in every shape and size as well. A green, pointy-eared goblin stood beside a table selling dice sets of carved bone. A few tents down, a Summer gentry brushed her collection of cloaks, all made of leaves, feathers, or spiderwebs. The smell of grilled meat filled the air, coming from a spit with an entire boar spinning slowly over the flames, a lanky gray troll turning the handle. Its beady red eyes caught sight of me and widened, and its sinewy body straightened in alarm. It was of the Iron Realm,” the gnome muttered, wrinkling her nose. “It belongs to the Iron faery that set up shop in the goblin market. Horrible creature. They shouldn’t be allowed.” Ash started to say something, and she glared at him. "Unless I don't get any rest from the constant hovering of an overprotective Winter faery who is worried that I'm not getting enough rest."
