About this deal

This book is the ultimate guide for traditional food and lacto-fermenting! It describes the relationship between gut and brain health and why you need to prepare grains and legumes in a certain way for optimum benefits. It also contains recipes for enzyme rich and probiotic laden foods and beverages and why they are good for your gut health. Sally Fallon thoroughly covers the topic of nourishing your body from the inside in a very big way! I can’t get enough of the probiotic ketchup recipe (tomato sauce for you Australians!), try it out! 4. The Encyclopedia Of Country Living- By Carla Emery

Detailed step-by-step guide for achieving a self-sufficient lifestyle tailored to your needs and environment The Nearings reasons for becoming self-sufficient were both personal and political. But their experience has proved useful to generations of us who have followed in their footsteps. With lots of practical advice, interspersed with lessons in living well, this classic still has enormous value today. It’s a philosophy of life that has served us well over the years. The three main legs of this way of life are:

In most books , the definition of the word “self sufficient” is simple: If you are self-sufficient, then you need no outside help in satisfying your own needs, especially when it comes to producing your own food and living healthily. If you think you don’t have enough room to grow sufficient food on your postage stamp property, this book is for you. Two single guys buy a duplex on a run-down lot in town and turn it into a garden of eating. How can that not be an interesting read? Loved the contents, but even for its size, I wish it went even deeper on the details of everything. Probably this is only due to me being content-facts-numbers thirsty and if it was like that it would probably bore other people.

I love books more than I love reading. Not that I don’t love reading, but something about having a shelf full of knowledge is comforting and exciting to me.

Live Better, Spend Less

Ninth Edition. Title and much of “Definitions and Measures” chapter dropped to make room for new information. Indexed and fully illustrated; el supremo version so far. And massaged by Sasquatch’s editors to make my writing follow (most of) the rules that in the past I’ve been famous (infamous?) for spurning. No more world records for typos. Oh, well. It covers almost everything you’d ever need to know about living off the grid. If you intend to raise farm animals like goats, for example, then there is a section in this book dedicated to that topic. Want to build your own barn or plan a sustainable garden? This book covers all that, too – and much more. Want to go underground and have an earth-roofed home that is off grid? Do you have a tight budget to work with? This book goes into great detail about why it is beneficial to shelter a home with earth. In 1964 the family moved to a farm near Newport, Pembrokeshire. The 1970s saw Seymour's publication rate reach its peak. In 1973 John and Sally wrote Self-Sufficiency and in 1976 The Complete Book of Self-Sufficiency was published. Appearing shortly after the publication of E.F. Schumacher's Small Is Beautiful: A Study of Economics As If People Mattered (1973) and The Good Life's first showing on British television (1975), the sales of the book exceeded all expectations. It was also set to establish the reputation of two young publishers, Christopher Dorling and Peter Kindersley who had commissioned and edited the work. In addition to self-sufficiency he wrote four guide books in the Companion Guide series. This textbook-like comprehensive guide to self sufficient life is basically the British version of the The Encyclopedia of Country Living. This volume takes you through careful explanations of how to develop the most basic homesteading skills.

The Ultimate Guide to Growing Your Own Food: Save Money, Live Better, and Enjoy Life with Food from Your Garden or Orchard We know that we all are carrying burdens, stresses, and challenges so…why not do our best to “make someone’s day?” Howard does an amazing job of describing just how simple this can be done in a variety of ways, depending on where we are, what we are doing, and who we are with/interacting with. It requires little or no work on our part to “make someone’s day”. This book is more than just practical advice, as it gives you illustrated examples of how to perform tasks. The illustrations go so far as to break down accurate floor plans for a new home. The Complete Guide to DIY Greenhouses: Build Your Own Greenhouses, Hoophouses, Cold Frames & Greenhouse Accessories What I really love about this book though is that Sepp Holzer is a guy who tells it like it is. He doesn’t try to over-complicate his ideas. He makes permaculture real and simple in a way that more complicated manuals sometimes miss. If you have any inkling of an interest in permaculture-style homesteading, this book will win you over with its beauty, simplicity, and common sense approach.Fiftieth Anniversary Edition. Coinciding with the fiftieth anniversary of the book’s beginning, all resource information has been brought up to date.
