About this deal

Overall this may actually be an improvement on the earlier versions and for a pandemic-stressed audience the sort of pleasurable entertainment with touches of grit that is very welcome.

If some of the discs are scratched or won't play properly just let us know and we would be happy to send you replacement discs or seasons at our cost. The episodes are: ‘You’ve Got to Dream’, ‘Another Farnon’, ‘Andante’, ‘A Tricki Case’, ‘All’s Fair’ and ‘A Cure for All Ills’. Series One begins in 1937 as James Herriot, a newly qualified animal surgeon, moves to a small town in Yorkshire to begin his first job with the irritable but kind veterinarian Siegfried Farnon. All 91 episodes of the 1980s BBC drama series following events in a veterinary practice supporting the local farming community in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1930s. The only thing that puzzles me slightly is why there are so many DVD’s- why was it not possible to put more than two episodes on each disc?

However I will gladly purchase all of the seasons in probability since I deem the TV series as excellent. With the added potential of looming war, our Skeldale family are forced to consider their purpose in Darrowby and beyond. The romantic interest (for Herriot) in the shaped of farmer's daughter Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton) appears to be lost to him when, in the final (of six) episodes she delivers a bombshell. It’s lovely to be able to watch them all again so many years after watching the series when it was aired on the BBC in the 1970’s.

All Creatures Great and Small should treat themselves to a heart-warming trip to Yorkshire with this enchanting series. He soon discovers that treating the animals is as much about treating their owners, and the Dalesʼ farmers are a tough crowd to please.Based on James Herriot's autobiographical bestsellers 'If Only They Could Talk' and 'It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet', the series stars Christopher Timothy as James Herriot, Robert Hardy as Siegfried Farnon, Peter Davidson as his brother Tristan, and Carol Drinkwater as James's wife Helen.

It's fantastic to see my old favorites with new interviews added; I am so grateful to PBS for the chance to see it all again. Funding for MASTERPIECE is provided by Viking and Raymond James, with additional support from public television viewers and contributors to The Masterpiece Trust, created to help ensure the series' future.

Fresh out of Glasgow Veterinary College, James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) follows his dream to become a vet in the magnificent Yorkshire Dales.
