About this deal

Treble is surprisingly smooth, and never does it get overly hot. There is still a lot of detail in there that makes it a very versatile speaker capable of playing nice with all sorts of genres. The mid-range again has a lot of clarity, is very smooth, and very detailed. Despite it being a mono speaker, there is no hint of compression, and instruments and vocals have a good amount of spacing. No speaker is perfect, particularly when you’re searching for something that’s small and portable enough to take with you to any environment. Minirigs didn’t pay me for this review. Given my enthusiasm for the Minirigs 3 throughout this review, I must put that out there. It's just such an excellent speaker that, price permitting, I wouldn’t recommend anything else. You can toggle between high and low gain (volume) when the subwoofer is on by pressing the button ONCE.

Compared to similarly-priced products, such as the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom, it isn’t quite as insightful across the board. We’d like more texture to each instrument, so this speaker can really show off the shimmer of cymbals or the throbs of bass guitars. With the Minirig 3 you can link up as many as you like wirelessly! See the user guide or app guide to find out how to start a wireless link up. A. Yes, they will pair in wireless stereo and via aux cables. However, for the best stereo sound we recommend using two of the same products. Also, the Minirig 3 in high gain mode is 6db louder than all other Minirig products so there will be a volume level difference. In low gain, the volume levels are all the same. The Minirig Mini is an interesting proposition: the stark design will be appreciated by some, its small stature will be attractive to the space-conscious, and the sound is solid. To power on, there is a small bump of a button that, when pressed, will start glowing. You turn the unit on and search for the Bluetooth device, and you are connected and ready to play music from the go.However, if you can get past the small criticisms that some customers have about these speakers, you’ll be amazed about the quality of sound you get. For the Minirig Mini and Minirig 3 we use a DSP (digital signal processor) to apply EQ and limiters to the sound. There is a latency (delay) associated with this as audio does an analog-to-digital-to-analog conversion. It is VERY short, however - less than 1000th of a second (<1ms). Although it’s unlikely you’ll get 100 hours all the time, there’s a good chance you won’t need to recharge the MiniRig 3 speakers too often between playing sessions. App Functionality Credit: Minirigs

It's important to make sure the USB port is powered before plugging the charger into the subwoofer, otherwise, you may short the port as the sub will try to put power out into the USB charger. This little device can deliver some sensational power, with 40w of RMS to ensure you fill a whole room in seconds. What makes the Mini difficult to recommend, however, is that some (admittedly larger but still very portable) rivals have both significantly better audio quality and greater versatility. There is no “pairing” mode as such, as they are always pairable when switched on, and they can remember up to eight devices. In this respect I actually found them harder to use than other Bluetooth speakers, in that I sometimes had to actively pair them to my phone when I wanted to use them – turning them on wasn’t enough. I didn’t always need to and I suspect maybe I’m missing something, although I can’t figure out what! When you consider that you can daisy chain as many of these devices together as you want, the volume potential is astronomical. But worse than that, it just didn’t work very well for me. Renaming speakers so you can tell them apart more easily on Bluetooth was hit and miss; sometimes the app didn’t “find” a speaker at all, even though it was connected and playing via Bluetooth; the EQ didn’t seem to work for me with a stereo pairing (or you couldn’t access the pairing at all). For full details on how to connect the subwoofer to your Minirig or phone and for the best ways to use it, please read the subwoofer user manual AND the Minirig user manual.

Today, this device is much more powerful than the previous MiniRig, with a custom 70 mm driver that really delivers sensational power. There’s also the added bonus of the wireless linking function, so you can run multiple MiniRig speakers at the same time. There are many things that make the MiniRig 3 well-worth your attention if you’re looking for something compact, durable, and brimming with power. After the cable has been inserted, you can then turn the sub off and on using the button by holding it down for 2 seconds. The sub will not turn on without an aux cable inserted. Just a single speaker will be more than enough to really get people gathering together in an open space, or even encourage some complaints from the neighbors. A. The subwoofer is not a standalone product so needs to be used with another speaker to improve the bass response. It is designed to work in perfect harmony with Minirigs for the best possible sound. You wouldn’t be wrong if you mistook the Minirig 3 for the original model or the second because Minirig doesn’t change their design, and there is an excellent reason. The speaker, in my opinion, is perfect the way it is and built better than any other on the market. Yes, the Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speakers are prettier to look at than many others, but they are nowhere near as robust and compact as the Minirig 3’s chassis. Funnily enough, most of the other people on those trips later bought Minirigs because they were impressed with how loud they got and how much bass they had. Each brought their speakers, but it was the Minirig we all used for watching movies or listening to music around the campfire.
