About this deal

As I touched on before, this is quite a small watch, as might be expected given it’s intended purpose. The LORUS collection offers men, women and children exciting designs, outstanding build quality and remarkable value. It ticks a lot of boxes:Sand blasted satin Titanium caseTitanium screw down casebackVery nicely made with a time honoured Pulsar/Lorus wave engraving on the caseback (as found on civilian versions of MOD issued watches)~36mm - perfect size for a field watch. I’m under no doubts that this is a great watch, however, there is another Lorus field watch vying for that same crown.

In 1982 the SEIKO Watch Corporation launched the LORUS brand to compliment the SEIKO and Pulsar offering. For easy time reading in any situation, this model features high-vis hands, on a cream dial that has been highlighted with bold Arabic numeral hour markers, as well as a 24 hour inner chapter ring, and a useful date window.

Come join the discussion about watch collections, displays, watch winders, accessories, classifieds, and more! My other watch, an automatic, doesn't like golf, the shock upsets the accuracy of the watch, causing it to lose time). Over the dial, you have a mineral crystal on both of these, which offers some limited scratch protection. Luminosity of the hands is good, intensity visibly fades after a few hours but is still visible through the night. You’ll get a fairly classic field watch look with each, even down to the fabric straps, which also feature comparable design cues.

I personally would avoid them as they have a see through caseback - which I hate on anything which, lets face it, isnt worth seeing - I would rather an engraved or even etched solid caseback. This information might be about you, your preferences or your device and is mostly used to make the site work as you expect it to. In the Pool and Shower it performed as expected - without any talking points - the Dial was very legible under water and even at oblique angles. The pale grey colour of the case is relatively unusual making it different from the hundreds of bright shiny things that are out there.

Nevertheless, I still lean towards the one I previously reviewed, just due to the weight and the looks. The old 1940s-80s military field watches like Benrus and Hamilton were all 34-36mm so this watch bucks the current trend of large watches but is a firm favourite of mine.

So, a couple of weeks ago, I was putting some final touches to a new article and I was browsing through different low-cost field watches online. While the case designs are very similar, the Lumibrite model lacks the small notches found at every 90 degrees on the titanium watch. It’s styled as a Field Watch - as issued MOD issued to British Army - wristwatches such as a Seiko Pulsar G10 are quite similar. I guess I’m surprised I’ve never featured them before, given the type of watches I tend to cover here. I'd like to see one with a screwdown crown, Sapphire Crystal, Solar Movement - There's a Kinetic Pulsar watch which is vaguely similar but I am not keen on Kinetic, I'd rather Solar.Due to the Lumibrite luminous coating, the steel model has a green tinge to the dial, whilst the other watch maintains a cream look. As we don't stamp watch guarantee/warranty cards a copy of your invoice will act as proof of purchase for any warranty issues. The mission was a success and over the last 30 years more than 120 million watches have been sold worldwide.
