About this deal

A celebration of inspirational women from all over the world and throughout history, told in Marcia Williams' much-loved comic-strip style. The violence is there though only shown with a drip of blood here and there and obviously dead bodies; this may be an issue with some parents. Another classic she has made much more accessible to children--and more appreciated by them--is THE ILIAD AND THE ODYSSEY. All used books might have various degrees of writing, highliting and wear and tear and possibly be an ex-library with the usual stickers and stamps.

I suppose it is a case-by-case scenario, but I know I have a little cousin who would have nightmares if she read about a giant bird eating somebody's liver everyday.

The Greek myths are among the greatest, most exciting stories ever told and feature some of the best loved heroes and heroines. I had heard some of the myths before but it was enjoyable to read about new characters and creatures. I really liked that there were myths I was not too familiar with, and that they were all focused on different characters. The book is nice and 100% readable, but the book has visible wear which may include stains, scuffs, scratches, folded edges, sticker glue, highlighting, notes, and worn corners. In addition to reading other versions of these stories, it would also be possible to use this book as a starting point for exploring other graphic books. There is more room for details in the background and the emphasis is placed on characters, feelings and events because of this.

The stories include ‘Orpheus and Eurydice’, ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’, ‘Perseus and the Gorgon’s Head’. I have particularly enjoyed reading the greek myths to my son as they have introduced me to several stories that I was unfamiliar with. Theseus wanted to kill the hairy Minotaur because a lot of weak tributes from Athens got sent each year and it wasn’t fair. I gave this book four stars instead of five because I wanted the pictures to be bigger, a lot of the drawings are tiny. It is accepted by you that Daunt Books has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance.
