About this deal

The mid and rearfoot uses the firmer Lightstrike EVA foam. The latter behaves like how any high-quality EVA foam does; it adds dependable ride comfort without creating a sensory theatre. There’s another way to build a three shoe rotation. The Asics Nimbus Lite 2 is a comfortable everyday trainer that complements the more serious adios 6.

The Adizero Takumi Sen is not the most well-known shoe in the Adidas series. However, it’s highly respected for short distances. For example, Rhonex Kipruto wore the Sen 5 when he broke the men’s 10K world record in 26:24. Overall: B ( A narrow/snug fitting, traditional lightweight trainer/ racing flat with a snappy forefoot. Best as a "workout trainer" for those who don't want to run in plated shoes all the time or want a shoe reminiscent of rides from the past. The Lightstrike Pro in the forefoot is very responsive and comes alive when the pace starts to increase, so don't forget to try some fast stuff in this shoe even if it fits more in a lightweight trainer category)

Who should not buy the Adidas adizero Adios 7 ?

While the plate-in-midsole form factor is a huge leap in running shoe design, one wonders if that’s being overdone. The racing shoe and speed trainer category is a good example. It is also narrower than a Metaspeed Sky (79.8 mm), an Adizero Adios Pro 2.0 (77.0 mm), and a Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 (86.0 mm). …And gets impossibly narrow around the toes The Adidas Adizero Adios 6 is a racing flat. I used it in my rotation for speed training sessions or short-distance races. Anything past the half marathon distance, I would suggest a carbon plated shoe.

The Sonic 3 Accelerate is also a lightweight trainer with mostly EVA foam and features a vibration dampening Obtivibe insert at the heel which actually makes the ride smooth in a way similar to the Lightstrike Pro in the forefoot of the Adios 6. This Obtivibe insert gives the Sonic a smoother heel strike that feels better on descents but that’s pretty much the only thing I prefer about it, and the Accelerate used to be a big favorite. The upper, weight, ride, and outsole all feet better on the Adios 6.It's not unknown that Adidas running shoes are killing it in the style department, and the Adios 7 is no exception. It can be painful to choose just one of the shoe's striking colorways. A durable worthwhile investment Much like the frothy real-estate and equities market, shoe brands have a FOMO with maximally-cushioned racing shoes. There’s no Boost here, but you do have the Lightstrike EVA – yes, of the SL20 and adizero SL fame. While the ride is firm, there’s sufficient comfort and stability for non-technical trails. This means that except for the stabilizing ring of Lightstrike around the toe and sides, you’re running almost entirely on Lightstrike Pro at the midfoot and to the front. This differs from shoes like the Boston 10 where the entire layer above the outsole is Lightstrike, even if there’s an insert of Lightstrike Pro above it.

Just get the durable and comfortable Solarglide 4 for easy days. And if you have too much money and don’t know where to spend it, the adizero adios Pro 2 is a good use of cash.

Where to buy

The Adios 8 doesn’t match the performance of the Takumi Sen 9 or Adios Pro 3 in races, but it’s a good fast training partner for those shoes, and a lot cheaper. I prefer the Boston 12 as a more rounded shoe that’s still great for fast training, but if you crave the more grounded feel of a flat, the Adios 8 is one of the best available from any brand. Featuring the same Lightstrike Pro as in the Adios Pro in the forefoot/midfoot and EVA Lightstrike in the heel, the Adios 6 is a lightweight trainer featuring some of the same technologies as the latest marathon racers. I haven’t run in an Adidas shoe for a while (my last one was years ago with lots of Boost), and while this one seems completely different in pretty much every way, I’m really excited to run in it. We’re not sure whether the rear section of the outsole is made of Continental rubber. Based on the wear pattern, it could be well be ‘adiwear’ rubber. However, it’s a decent running shoe for running long distances at easier paces. It’s also extremely stable due to the larger LEP shank that extends upwards to create a supportive base. The firmer EVA rim on top of the Boost midsole also helps with the transition process.

Hence why I like these extended forefoot torsion systems. They help create a snappy ride that transfers force nicely without being too stiff or limiting motion. The forefoot can still flex/bend, so those who want motion there will still be able to use it without losing responsiveness. Some people will like this, while others will want more or less flexibility. Each person is different, just as each foot and plantar fascia are different. So make sure you figure out what works for you and what you like. The first couple of runs I did in the Adios 6 were easy base runs, with the second progressing to a steady pace by the end. I was impressed by the level of cushioning in the shoe and I think it may work well as a versatile option for someone who prefers a firm ride and more feel for the ground even on easy efforts. Lightstrike Pro is a lightweight mystery foam that is soft and springy, it provides better energy return compared to the Adidas Boost technology. It has been compared to Nike’s ZoomX foam. This Lightstrike Pro foam is the same foam that is in the record-breaking shoes the Adios Pro 1, Adios Pro 2, and the Adidas Prime X. The dual-density midsole, Torsion shank, and ultra-grippy Continental rubber outsole play well together to deliver a speed-friendly ride. Bolgla, L. A., & Malone, T. R. (2004). Plantar fasciitis and the windlass mechanism: a biomechanical link to clinical practice. Journal of athletic training , 39 (1), 77.These three speedy Adizero models sport names and uppers similar enough to confuse the most die-hard adidas fans! They fully embody the Adizero motto “Light makes fast.” The Adizero Adios 7 is 7.8 oz. men’s size 9 and 6.8 oz. women’s size 8. With the higher level of cushioning, the new adizero adios is akin to the older Bostons or adizero Tempo. When you’re just looking at the shoe you will only think it’s the Lightstrike foam material but once you flip the shoe over, you’ll be able to see the Lightstrike Pro in the outsole. However, when trying easy runs during a more intense training week, I did find it was too hard on my body. I’d personally restrict it to faster sessions, even if it is more cushioned than past iterations of the shoe. Continental Rubber finishes off the outsole, furnishing the adios with exceptional grip as usual. My size 10.5 weighs 9 oz./257 grams.
