One of the many powers of Zora is manipulating iron. She uses it to create cages to trap people, before crushing them inside. No Name Given: The man with a Noh Mask is only called "the pharmacist", something in relation to his mask or the Nue Choujin. Eventually subverted when he is revealed to be Batista Hoshi, Sandek's brother. Power-Upgrading Deformation: After being injected with the Choujin drug, Tokio takes on the form of a vulture-person, and has to hide his true face and form until learning how to shift out of it. Implicitly, this sort of thing is common to Choujin. Nightmare Face: Ricardo has four eyes and has tentacles on faces. He uses his appearence to scares a civilian for fun and Tokio notes that he looks teryfying. Aside from some very abstract panels, which come off as very chaotic and disorganized, everything is very beautiful. The choreography is nicely done, as expected. You can follow through with what's going on for the most part and feel satisfied. There is a "different" feel to this style, perhaps Ishida took a slightly

Dreaming of Things to Come: Zora can see the future in her dreams. Her first vision was seeing the memorial procession she was part of being killed by Quiem Mc Mann, the Choujin X at the time. Most of her actions in the present have for objective to prevent a calamity that would destroy Yamato as she saw in one of those dreams. Nov 28 COVER Corporation Announces hololive English VTuber Gawr Gura Collaboration with Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium Chekhov's Gun: During Tokio's "date" with Nari at the abandoned zoo it's shown that the hyena is missing from its cage, though the hyena appears in the story later on. Promotion to Parent: After their mom disappeared and their dad died, Shiozaki had to take care of his siblings on his own. Evil Tower of Ominousness: Throughout the series, a strange smoke-spewing tower can be seen in the middle of Yamato. It turns out to be the headquarters of Mother Zora, the series' main antagonist and the Choujin X of the previous generation.

Hand Blast: Smoke Choujin can do this. Chandra is shown to be able to shoot blasts of smoke hot enough to fry people. One of my favorite scenes is towards the end of an arc in chapter 35, where Tokio is contemplating his future and struggling to decide what he wants to do with his life. In a quiet moment in an empty park near dusk, Tokio is having a conversation with Shiozaki, a character he helped in an earlier arc. While talking about aspirations, Shiozaki expresses his desire to live an ordinary life, a sentiment that Tokio initially echoes before falling silent and staring at the sky, a melancholy expression appearing as he slouches down and stares at the ground. While the dose seemingly has no physical effect on Azuma, Tokio grows a beak. In fear of being seen, Tokio must now figure out how to hide his new identity as a Choujin. But it seems that there are people out there that are angry at Tokio and Azuma’s use of the Choujin drug, and they do not seem to want to stay quiet about it. Latest Chapters While training on Ojima, Tokio is wearing a shirt that depicts three figures standing before a sunset with the words "drop out" written beneath them. In chapter 34.4, Tokio announces his intention to drop out of school to Azuma and Ely while the three of them stand before a sunset in exactly the same position as the figures on Tokio's shirt. Snakes Are Sinister: Nari is a Snake Choujin who can turn herself into a serpent and she is hired by the pharmacist to capture or kill Tokio.

Still don't really know what 'enjoyment' means but I'm gonna use it as an opportunity to wax over the overall manga quality. Fragile Speedster: In Full Beastification form Tokio's body feels incredibly light, to the point where he has some difficulty controlling his speed at first. Unfortunately, he breaks his own arm when he punches snake-form Nari. My Significance Sense Is Tingling: Choujin send out a signal other Choujin can sense when they're using their powers. Pretty mediocre and nothing special so far. I didn't expect Sui Ishida would out-do his masterpiece TG with ease and I was right. The plotline is very predictable and you wouldn't really be surprised by anything. That said, it is Sui Ishida we are talking about, so I'm expecting much more. Pineda, Rafael Antonio (September 22, 2021). "Choujin X Manga by Tokyo Ghoul's Sui Ishida Gets Serialization in Young Jump on October 14". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on September 22, 2021 . Retrieved September 22, 2021.This manga is still in its early days but I think it is well worth the read, story, art, and characters are excellent, the world is thought out and full of mystery as the lore unfolds it paints a very realistic take on superhumans ( Choujin ) and how they'd live alongside us the way they would be treated, regulated and the hardships they would face. Well-Intentioned Extremist: The mother of the Tower of Mourning, Zora, is willing to kill hundreds of people for a small chance to save Yamato. This also extends to people working directly for her like Chandra.

Now, the characters are very unique, focusing on two seemingly different, yet very similar protagonists. I personally have never read a manga with two different protagonists, but I’m liking it so far. The powers are more like concepts they can be expanded and the only limit seems to be the user's own creativity leading to every sort of power you can think of being on display, some more typical and some downright weird and surreal. Affably Evil: Ricardo might be an infamous criminal, but that doesn't mean he can't polite. When a kidnapped Tokio is hungry, Ricardo buys a pizza and offer him to eat. truly hit his stride. The characters that matter are finding a deeper entrenchment into their identities, the world of what Choujins are seems to be expanding into a more tangible manner, and the art in the most recent chapters have been spectacular.

On the other hand, art is definetly one of the greatest things here, no one can lie about that, everything is so detailed and beautifully done, in fact, everything seems very well made to me. I really, really hope that Ishida can find the time he needs to give us a beautiful, emotional, mind-changing and well-written story. already pointed out (superhumans in a society where they don't belong), however the similarities become thin beyond that point. Notably, unlike the Ghoul of Tokyo Ghoul, the superhumans aren't some underground group but active terroristic threats that leave visible destruction that scars the city, and the specifics of being a superhuman feel less focussed on the necessary evil inherent in being one as much as it does the naturally corrupting nature of the powers it gives you. From the same creative mind that brought us the hit manga series Tokyo Ghoul comes another rather dark outing from creator Sui Ishida. If you were a fan of his previous work, there is certainly a lot to love about Choujin X. On paper, both are fundamentally stories about average (and rather plain) individuals being transformed into creatures beyond their comprehension. They are granted abilities they do not fully understand, leaving them feeling like monstrosities that can no longer adjust to everyday life. They have a best friend who seems to have way more going on than the story initially implies, and there is a strong hint of a larger organization orchestrating events behind the scenes.

Unstoppable Rage: Making Chandra angry is a bad idea, since he get 5 times stronger when he is pissed off. Of course, since it is Chandra we are talking about, it is easier said than done. As of now, I am still unsure if Choujin X will surpass Tokyo Ghoul, but I do think that it has certainly stepped out of the shadow of Ishida's previous work at this point. If it continues in this direction I truly think that Choujin X has the possibility to become Ishida's peak. The way Choujins are more free as a concept rather than Ghouls (i.e. not simply based off RC cells and organs, but rather how the character of who someone is impacts their Choujin form. Over 50 years have passed since the establishment of autonomous regions began within the world's nations, an outcome initiated from the resulting chaos brought about by "Choujin," individuals with supernatural powers. Also, I will be comparing this series a lot to Tokyo Ghoul as I feel that's where a lot of the most interesting points are in the early discussion for this series. Two Guys and a Girl: Tokio, Ely, and Azuma are the three main characters who attend school together. Mateo, Alex (February 2, 2022).
