About this deal

Playing 4K (in any setting) is extremely taxing on your system. Like we mentioned above, to get the most out of a 144Hz monitor, you need to be producing 144 FPS. To produce that in 4K requires the most powerful graphics cards to do so – I’m literally talking 2080Ti… and probably in SLI. This is, however, not to be confused with low input lag, which is the time it takes for an input to be registered. This confusion is common, and in some senses, marketing material around monitors (much like TVs) tends to muddy the waters here. Regarding colors, if you tune it and have a decent monitor it can be set to more or less to your likes. You still need to have a couple of profiles for games, photos, or office work. I always like to go for the monitor with sharper text drawing.

Product 1: AMD FreeSync With FreeSync gamers now enjoy smooth video and seamless on the spot movement through their fast paced games FreeSync is an AMD technology that nearly eliminates tearing and stuttering due to differences between a graphics card's frame rate and a monitor's refresh rate Most of the products we recommend here at WePC have gone through a strict testing process that involves everything from the price and performance, to build quality, efficiency, and aesthetics. Each product is pushed to the limit to see how it performs under intense stress to make sure it warrants our coveted top spot. Doing this enables us to provide you with the most accurate review of how the product performs and, ultimately, whether it’s worth your hard-earned cash. I did see a comment from the manufacturer that this is also G-Sync compatible so if that's true, it should be able to work with Nvidia cards as well) For 1080p, we’d say go smaller, around 24 – 27 inches max. For 1440p, we’d say go for 27 to 32 inches, although you could go wider if you’re looking for an ultrawide monitor. For 4K, which generally start at 27 inches, you can really go as large as you want. What are FreeSync and G-Sync? So, the main thing to take away from this is, graphical performance is absolutely essential when using a 144Hz monitor – and even more so in 4K. Product 2: Advanced 2.4 GHz wireless connection: Delivers the reliability and speed of a corded connection

A lot of modern-day monitors come to the table boasting at least a 5ms response time, however, gaming monitors can go much lower. Several monitors in this guide have response times of well below that and for good reason. In fact, it wasn’t that long ago when we had to be content with a 60Hz refresh rate just to experience that crisp 4K resolution, or settle for 1440p just to get a fast refresh rate without blowing our budget. These days, you can have the best of both worlds – a high-resolution 4K monitor that will make movies more immersive, and a fast refresh rate monitor that will make those fast-paced games even smoother. HDR: High dynamic range isn’t a huge consideration unless you have a big budget – most gaming monitors struggle to deliver anything resembling true HDR. If you want that, however, start by looking for monitors with a DisplayHDR 600 certification and some kind of local dimming. If it wasn’t obvious, OLED monitors are much more expensive than LED alternatives. Even the most expensive 4K 144Hz gaming monitors don’t land a glove on the price of OLED alternatives. Part of that is due to the fact that OLED is still in its early stages. Once the technology becomes more widespread, chances are the costs will reduce exponentially. OLED burn-inKey specs – Screen size: 27in; Resolution: 2,560 x 1,440; Screen technology: VA; Refresh rate: 165Hz; Response time: 1ms; Video inputs: 2 x HDMI 2, 1 x DisplayPort 1.4; Other ports: 2 x USB-A 3.0, 1 x USB-B 3.0, 1 x 3.5mm One thing I don't like is the blue light filter only goes up to 30%. The feature itself is nice, and I use the one on my phone every day (it's set to come on at 11pm daily) but the fact you only have 3 percentages on this one is a little dissapointing. Nothing too serious though. Also, the FPS mode really sacrifices picture quality to get you the "better visibility and response time". It's unfortunate I'll probably never use it because the picture looks so washed out and distracting when it's engaged. Don’t limit your search to a single panel type: we include this information simply so you know what to expect from the monitor you choose. You caught us: this isn’t a 144Hz monitor. The Gigabyte G27QC is instead a 1440p gaming monitor with a 165Hz refresh rate, which to us is the current sweet spot for PC gaming and the best choice for most people.
