Clonazepam's primary mechanism of action is the modulation of GABA function in the brain, by the benzodiazepine receptor, located on GABA A receptors, which, in turn, leads to enhanced GABAergic inhibition of neuronal firing. Benzodiazepines do not replace GABA, but instead enhance the effect of GABA at the GABA A receptor by increasing the opening frequency of chloride ion channels, which leads to an increase in GABA's inhibitory effects and resultant central nervous system depression. [8] In addition, clonazepam decreases the utilization of 5-HT (serotonin) by neurons [112] [113] and has been shown to bind tightly to central-type benzodiazepine receptors. [114] Because clonazepam is effective in low milligram doses (0.5mg clonazepam = 10mg diazepam), [115] [116] it is said to be among the class of "highly potent" benzodiazepines. [117] The anticonvulsant properties of benzodiazepines are due to the enhancement of synaptic GABA responses, and the inhibition of sustained, high-frequency repetitive firing. In September 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration required the boxed warning be updated for all benzodiazepine medicines to describe the risks of abuse, misuse, addiction, physical dependence, and withdrawal reactions consistently across all the medicines in the class. S2CID 21980890. Intravenous infusion: Clonex (the vial) can be diluted for infusion in a ratio of 1 vial (1 mg) to at least 85 mL diluting media. The diluting media can be any of the following: sodium chloride 0.9%; sodium chloride 0.45% + glucose 2.5%; glucose 5% or glucose 10%. These mixtures are stable for 24 hours at room temperature. Infusion bags other than PVC should be used for infusing Clonex. If PVC infusion bags are used then the mixture should be infused immediately or within 4 hours. The infusion time should not exceed 8 hours. Do not prepare Clonex infusions using sodium bicarbonate solution, as precipitation of the solution may occur. Clonex Rooting Gel contains rooting hormone, anti-fungal agent, nutrient and trace elements. When the end of a freshly taken cutting is dipped into the Gel it seals the cut-end and the rooting hormone encourages root-shoots to form. An anti-fungal agent helps to keep stem-rot at bay during this delicate time and a small amount of nutrient and trace elements help feed the rooting process. Used as part of your propagation process, Clonex Rooting Gel will significantly increase your success rate and reduce the time it takes for cuttings to take root. An increased risk of congenital malformations associated with the use of benzodiazepine drugs like clonazepam has been suggested in several studies . There may also be non-teratogenic risks associated with the use of benzodiazepines during pregnancy . There have been reports of neonatal flaccidity, respiratory and feeding difficulties, and hypothermia in children born to mothers who have been receiving benzodiazepines late in pregnancy . In addition, children born to mothers receiving benzodiazepines late in pregnancy may be at some risk of experiencing withdrawal symptoms during the postnatal period . In general, it is best for patients who are of childbearing potential and also use benzodiazepines like clonazepam to discuss such matters with their health care professionals as careful consideration must be undertaken regarding the intersection of the risks of untreated seizure potential in the patient and any possible toxicity to the fetus .

Chouinard G (2004). "Issues in the clinical use of benzodiazepines: potency, withdrawal, and rebound". The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry. 65 (Suppl 5): 7–12. PMID 15078112. You’ve got to try Clonex! It’ll help your cuttings develop roots and protect existing roots. To prevent infections & embolisms, it seals cut tissue instantly. First, dip cutting in gel to desired depth. Then insert cutting into rooting medium. Mist cuttings and place in propagator or a warm, clean, moist and humid environment. Finally, look for root development in 1 – 2 weeks.Chemically, clonazepam is a benzodiazepine derivative. It exhibits several pharmacologic properties, which are characteristics of the benzodiazepine class of drugs. In human it is capable of suppressing the spike and wave discharge in absence seizure (petit mal) and decreasing the frequency, amplitude, duration and spread of discharge in minor motor seizure. Non-flowering shoots are best, but you should remove flowers if any are present – we want the plant’s energy to be focused on root growth, not on flowering.
