With the run up to Christmas we could certainly use all the peace and tranquillity we can get. It can be a stressful time, especially if we’re the one doing all the shopping, cooking, entertaining, etc.
In using the precepts we set our intention to stay with them just for today.
This week we’re looking at being kind.
Precept #5: Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbour and every living thing
Being kind shouldn’t be that difficult, but we all know there are a lot of unkind people in this world. But we don’t have to be one!
Every living thing has the right to “be” and we have to ask ourselves what gives us the right to cause harm to another. We are all connected, we are all part of the Universe and we all live together on this Earth. Therefore, when we hurt another, we hurt ourselves.
So over this festive period, let’s all try a little harder to be kind to one another and all living things. Let’s treat others as we would like them to treat us. Let’s carry that through into 2019 too. Think what a wonderful world we would live in if everyone was kinder to one another.
If you’ve made it through to the end of this series, thank you. We hope that these five precepts can help you to achieve a little more peace and harmony over the holiday period and into 2019.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
