The next generation Freesat boxes are finally here, as well as being 4K compatible they are also advertising the ability to record 4 satellite channels at the same time, whereas previous generation Freesat boxes could only record up to two with separate satellite LNB connections required for each viewed/ recorded channel. At the time of writing this I actually have no hands on experience with the next generation UHD Freesat boxes, but I am writing this article early as there is so little technical information of the internet about them, some questions I haven’t been able to answer at this time but I have sent direct questions to Freesat which I am hoping that they will answer promptly.
What used to happen, (might still do), is that when a satellite was running low on fuel it would be put into what is known as "Inclined Orbit". If you could actually see an inclined orbit satellite from the ground, it would appear to be moving in a figure of 8 pattern. just enough to pull in a difficult to receive channel that was just coming in but maybe pixilation or

If you read the early part of this blog you will see I talked about the different coaxial cable sizes, this depends on the cables lengths that you’re installing. I again rate Webro the highest so if you’reinstalling a communal IRS system, I recommend WF100, WF125 and WF165 as suitable cables for doing so. You may even want to get these a multi-core cable to assist with the installation. When you install a communal IRS TV system, traditional LNB’s can’t be used as the amount of connections required is usually far greater than available on an Octo LNB. For this reason, a new approach must be adopted, and this is done via a Quattro LNB and multi-switch amplifiers. This blog isn’t about the installation of communal TV systems, so I won’t go into great detail here.
LNB Frequency stability
As discussed above the frequency range used by the wideband LNB conflicts with terrestrial TV services. This means that they can’t be combined on top of one another, although this is possible with dSCR signals and Sky Q. The combined style wallplates, diplexed, triplexed etc accept coax cables with the signals already combined and separate them ready to be connected to your equipment. The main reasons these will not work with the wideband LNB is: The band 3.625 - 4.2 GHz is under increasing pressure from other spectrum users such as WiFi, WiMAX and, in the future, beyond 2020, from 5G. So, what is the code to reset DStv? All you need to do is type ‘RESET smartcard number’ and send the SMS to 30333 (for Nigerians).
