About this deal

Channel Islands, including Jersey and Guernsey (Sark, Alderney and Herm are an additional 1 days delivery from Guernsey) 48 Hour Dispatch Service Courtesy of Ravensburger, we were give the base Starter Set, along with all the currently released expansions. GraviTrax is a toy I love and will recommend again and again, and these expansions will serve to make it even better. This one is great when it works well but getting to that point is highly frustrating, even for adults, and younger kids will almost certainly give up on it before the fun can start.

GraviTrax has been nominated for awards in Europe, and surely will get some in North America as well. This is our toy of 2019 to date, and with only a few months before the holiday season, it’s likely going to capture that top spot!

Trampoline

The Flip is a lot of fun to watch. I think it was probably my favorite of all the GraviTrax expansions so far. We then put into practice what we had learned about rollercoasters using the Gravitrax add-ons by making our own out of junk materials. As it simply carries a marble along in the same direction it came from with no level shifts, this is one of the easiest GraviTrax expansions to incorporate.

Last summer, my son and I were sent a set of Gravitrax toys for review and ended up loving this elaborate and creative toy. Today, we’re still playing with it regularly and have been taking a look at six of the latest GraviTrax expansions now available to make your GraviTrax system even more impressive than ever before. The Gravitrax Expansion Catapult allows further development of STEM through trial and error, plus some discussion. We experimented with varying the height of the catapult: We wanted to determine whether the higher the balls are flung from has any effect on how high has and/or far they will travel to get over an obstacle. To see how far the ball went we measured it in terms of tiles it passed; and for height we built a tower that is crashed into, lower it a tile at a time to determine when it could pass. Of course the answer is yes – the higher you place your catapult the higher and further the ball will travel.

I was surprised with the consistency here, simply because of how energetic this expansion is. I expected the marbles to go flying off all over the place, but they went where they were supposed to the vast majority of the time. Ravensburger sent my ten-year-old son and me six of the latest GraviTrax expansions to try out. We rated them over four different features as follows: Scottish Highlands Postcodes (IV, HS, KA27-28, KW, PA20-49, PA60-78, PH17-26, PH30-n 44, PH49-50, ZE ) 48 Hour Dispatch

The Lifter expansion, as might be obvious from the name, lifts marbles vertically to three different levels depending on how many pieces you use to build it. It needs to be manually operated each time by a button and can send marbles in different directions at the top. What’s in the Box?

Consistency: How consistently did each expansion do what it was supposed to do? For this, we used each piece 10 times in an identical setup and recorded how often it worked correctly. We also talked about the Gravitrax Expansion Catapult in terms of density – thinking about what would happen if the balls had been designed lighter. We came to the conclusion that they would not have travelled as fast or as far. This resulted us in thinking about weight restrictions on rollercoasters. The Gravitrax Add-Ons: Action Loop Add-on It’s fun but too inconsistent. You’ll be better off with something else unless you’re looking to complete the set. This GraviTrax expansion also has by far the least amount of stuff in the box with no bonus parts beyond the trampoline itself. The set comes with a large book of construction plans, graded by difficulty level. When you are familiar with the different pieces and how they fit together you can move onto the tasks. These ask you to complete layouts by solving a variety of challenges which are graded by difficulty, for example working out how many height tiles you need to add or which elements are missing. CORE: Simply be creative is the plan here: with uncomplicated building elements that can be used intuitively and in a variety of ways and where kids from the age of 8 have fun trying things out and getting started. All beginnings are easy!
