About this deal

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This time we’re taking a trip around Australia to discover more about the animals, birds and plants that live here. Aussies are almost as committed to barbecuing as South Africans and Americans, and even holidays like Christmas are celebrated with a relaxed, sun-soaked family barbie at the beach, not a formal sit-down dinner like in Europe. Along the way, you'll meet some friendly quokkas, take a ferry to Kangaroo Island, marvel at the Big Things and learn about some places that are sacred to the traditional owners of the land.

Her titles are colourful, charming and educational looks at cities, countries and creatures around the world. I’ve ended up here and am none the wiser but can confirm that this term has only recently been used in Australia. So, any linguists or social historians reading this who have some insight into the use of Vale over here, do tell.

All the Colours of London is an illustrated exploration of the iconic objects that define the city, through the colours that weave through its streets and define its landmarks.

An example of ave atque vale is what those attending a high ranking military person’s funeral might say to the person who has died. What does seem clear is that it is relatively new in Australia, and seems more prevalent than RIP these days. When greeting each other, close friends may hug, back-slap or kiss one another on the cheek, while others may simply offer a nod. Since then, it has expanded its reach, with offices in Sydney (2011), Melbourne (2016), the Gold Coast (2017), and the Sunshine Coast (2018).
