The female characters in the story are obnoxious and are kinda just there to bring some meaningless drama. Just as in volume 1, however, I struggled with following the storyline. It felt like the story was all over the place and half the time I had no idea what was happening. I felt like the relationship between Shun and Mio is quite stunted. Granted their relationship in the first place is strange and almost forced.

I will admit that the pacing of Umibe no Étranger is rather fast. The pacing is the weakest part of both the anime adaptation and the original manga. Before you know it, it's over. This may have faired better pacing-wise if it had been split up into a four-part OVA.

This review is for "Umibe no Étranger," I have yet to read the sequel "Harukaze no Étranger," but I will do so as soon as I can. I was left with a feeling of not just disappointment, but dissatisfaction, after "Umibe no Étranger," and strangely enough, I kind of really want to read "Harukaze no Étranger," to see how Kanna Kii handles the sequel and if the story writing possibly ends up changing for the better. Taishi Murata is playing Shin Hashimoto in the film, while Yoshitsugu Matsuoka is playing Mio Chibana. Yu Shimamura is playing Sakurako. Ya paso bastante tiempo desde que leí este tomo, pero quería escribir la reseña después de haber leído todos los tomos de esta pareja y puedo decir con mucha seguridad que de los cuatro tomos de Harakuze no etranger y del tomo único Umibe no etranger este es de los peorcitos, Un extraño en primavera es perfección pura y el segundo y tercero de la serie Harakuze no etranger también son de los mejores ,ahora este es como un inicio medio raro, no me malinterpreten lo ame porque amo la relación que tienen Mio y Shun son de mis parejas mas favoritas de la historia de mi existencia pero si creo que todo va mas lento y no es que como que la trama sea de lo mejor ,te hace morirte de la ternura por la pareja y te hace tener ganas de seguir leyendo los demás tomos que se ponen mucho mejores, pero en particular este primer tomo no te engancha del todo y no toca temas interesantes, tal vez un poco sobre la relación con la familia de Shun y por que se separaron pero esos temas se profundizan muchísimo mejor el los siguientes tomos. a b c d e Pineda, Rafael Antonio (October 24, 2019). I recommend this to anyone looking for a realistic, maybe a little cliche but nevertheless adorable, romance. If you're not into yaoi, I still recommend it because it's that good. Don't be turned off by that. I also recommend the sequel, Harukaze no Etranger, because it goes into great detail when dealing with unconventional topics. The final weird thing, for me, is the character design. Both Shun and Mio are in their 20s after the 3 year timeskip, but everyone is drawn with such extreme babyface that they look years younger. I think it's just the artist's style, which is a shame, because the detail otherwise is really top-notch. Akiyo Ohashi ( Land of the Lustrous manga's 2013 promotional video, Sakura Capsule) directed the anime at Studio Hibari, and also served as scriptwriter and storyboarder. Kii, a former animator, supervised the film, and also designed the film's characters. Mayumi Watanabe was the chief animation director, while Takashi Hashimoto iwass the effects animation director. Composer and musician Mina Kubota ( Aria the Animation, Macross Delta, A Whisker Away) composed the film's music.
