At nominal volumes, the Klipsch device is a solid performer with a pleasingly rich low end and an accurate and clear high-end, and it’s also very strong on dynamics. The Klipsch device has a “hi-fi” type of tonal balance — the low end is generous and the high-end extension is very brilliant and precise, while the midrange sounds slightly hollow. It proved almost impossible to achieve stable drop-out free playback with either TIDAL or Deezer and the results were entirely unsatisfying. This means that the Three II might be either exactly what you are looking for or a complete non starter but it’s worth digging a little deeper into whether the specification of the Klipsch has the scope to make it a bit of a bargain. Although this type of tonal balance is not exactly flat, in the sense of having good representation through the range of frequencies, it is not at all unpleasant when listening to music at a nominal level.There is a substantial loss of upper content when listening from the sides of the device, but that’s not surprising because it’s front-firing. The thing is, like the truly lovely Tannoy Legacy Eaton, I think that they just about get away with it because Klipsch hasn’t simply rifled through some clichéd bits of ‘old’ design. The Klipsch Three II incorporates premium materials such as real wood veneer, switches and knobs in metal on the top panel, a woven tweed grille and the new Klipsch logo on a metal badge. I can picture the Klipsch Three II loudspeaker I am reviewing here pouring Miles Davis and Cannonball Adderley into the chic lounge of a spacious suburban American bungalow of the late fifties. The Three tabletop stereo system also features 192kHz / 24-bit decoding for flawless reproduction of high resolution audio tracks from your PC.

What might be more of a nuisance though is the absence of a USB to charge a phone or tablet (or indeed, power some possible source components).Klipsch, inventor, acoustics pioneer and maverick, founded Klipsch Audio in the USA with the sole purpose of bringing the power, detail and emotion of the live music experience into his living room. However, it struggles to reproduce low-bass, so you can't feel the deep thump and rumble in bass-heavy music like hip-hop and EDM. We do provide installation options for built-in appliances providing it is simply a case of fitting the appliance and furniture doors. That said, the Klipsch can play stereo content without downmixing it to mono which is more immersive.

The sound is best described as ‘big’ – far bigger than you’d believe from a box measuring 35cm x 20cm x 20cm, or thereabouts. The Klipsch was connected to an IsoTek Evo3 Corvus mains block and connected to an Essential PH-1 and Sony Xperia XA2 smartphone for Bluetooth testing. While it might sound like this is just the sort of thing I’d be deliriously happy to see… I’m actually not that sure about it. It also struggles to reproduce low-bass, so you can't feel the deep thump and rumble in action-packed scenes.We will try our best however if we are unable to do this we will still install connect to plumbing and put the appliance in situ. It also has a better-balanced sound profile and comes with bass and treble adjustments to customize its sound to your liking. It can be mentioned that there are among others installed Klipsch speakers in about half of all American cinemas!
