They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated!

Eventually the healing process of drawing nature helped me rediscover my creativity, and create this book.

Mouse moves on to wake up Hedgehog for the arrival of spring and as he continues along the path in the wood, Mouse’s journey from friend to friend maps out the changes in seasons from January through to December, from picnicking among the bluebells with Mole in May and picking berries with Dormouse in June, to taking refuge in Fox’s cozy caravan as winter draws in. Written in a gentle rhyme that reflects the slow pace of Mouse's rambling journey, and illustrated in the inimitable style of Alice Melvin, Mouse's Wood is a heart-warming celebration of slow living in nature.

I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! When a scary, fire-breathing dragon comes to visit, it's up to the damsel to take charge of her story and save the day for everyone. There are spring daffodils on his porch, though he’s in dressing gown and pyjamas as he ‘shakes sheets’ before handing them on the line with Mouse’s help. What’s more, alongside titles such as I Am the Seed that Grew the Treeor A First Book of Nature, we suggest this as a perfect gift, a year round source of joy and inspiration. I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. We cannot keep turning and thereafter browsing through the pages, investigating, enquiring, checking the rhyming text and exclaiming. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything.

Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first. Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. Then again, we’re seeing the changes to the forest, from the first buds on the trees, to the flight of goldfinch, the burst of April cherry blossom, or a huge ‘ stretched out – chequered sheet’ May picnic.Hotjar sets this cookie to know whether a user is included in the data sampling defined by the site's pageview limit. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally). Written in a gentle rhyme that reflects the slow pace of Mouse’s rambling journey, and illustrated in the inimitable style of Alice Melvin, Mouse’s Wood is a heart-warming celebration of slow living in nature.

Alice went on to publish a further eight titles with Tate including Counting Birds, The High Street and Grandma’s House, winning a Book Trust Best New Illustrator Award in 2011. This intense period of sketching began in 2019 when I was wrestling with the trauma of a sudden bereavement. An exquisitely illustrated picture book with special die-cut flaps that follows the woodland ramblings of Mouse and highlights the change in seasons. There are fancy dresses, frilly dresses, stripy dresses, silly dresses, sun dresses, fun dresses, blue dresses, green.

However, when we begin the book, we meet Mouse albeit by lifting the flap of his home and peeping in. At the end of the book a double page spread provides a guide of what to spot when you are out and about in the woodland. Mouse moves on to wake up Hedgehog for the arrival of spring, and as he continues along the path in the wood, Mouse’s journey from friend to friend maps out the changes in seasons from January through to December. I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example.
