I assume this is where the author’s attempt at humor in the story because Arthur hits the cat with a stick and it jumps into the air before hitting the ground giving Arthur the opportunity to record the cat’s footfall into the jar. With picture books seeming to hew to ever more minimalist approaches, this retelling of a Norse myth, rich with adventure and mystery in a wonderfully picturesque package, comes as an opulent treat.

The authors’ simple yet comprehensive approach includes how to teach the processes and craft knowledge involved in creating successful and meaningful texts. Arthur is to become one of the most famous men of his age, while George remains in hard-working obscurity. This resource has been differentiated by reducing the amount of punctuation the child would be looking for and marking out where a piece of punctuation must go. I really enjoyed this book, the illustrations are incredible, the first page is so intriguing and gets the reader hooked straight away. Imagine a vault so cavernous that it could contain the world’s greatest treasures, from mummified remains of ancient monarchs to glistening swords brandished by legendary warriors.

I have been looking for more books like this; mythic adventures, well told, Arthur And the Golden Rope gave me exactly what I was hoping for.It's broken up into a series of small paragraphs, some a just sentence long, and Todd-Stanton never loses sight of the conceit at the heart of this story. This book is about a little boy who is considered to be weird/trouble because he is inquisitive and likes to create positions.
