About this deal

After the Zuiko Pro 300mm f/4 IS Pro, the 12-100mm is the second lens with built-in optical image stabilization. When combined with the E-M1 Mark II, the Olympus 12-100mm delivers a stunning 6.5 stops of stability. Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm F4 IS Pro Lens, suitable

I have and use the 12-100, but not as a GP lens. For ME, the 12-100 is just a bit too heavy and big, to lug around all day. So it has become a task lens, I grab it for specific shoots based on the needs of that shoot. So…this really is a unique positioning. The 12-100 gives up a bit of reach, and one stop of speed, to do everything else just about equally and balance out the weight, provide a one lens solution, and not need additional filters. How does someone know if this lens is the right choice or not? The alternatives above are equally as good. Let’s look at a few other items. The performance at the shortest focal length deserves just one word: revelation. Not only the maximum MTFs are reached already at the maximum relative aperture but also the result in that place is really close to the record value, exceeding slightly 82 lpmm. Comparing 14-140 to my 2,8/12-35 & 2,8/35-100 I do not see any significant IQ advantage to speak of (and I am a pixel peeper - not very proud of being one LOL). Obviously max AV 2,8 that is it. Maybe I have bad copies of pro zooms, or my 14-140 is performing way better than it was originally designed (which option is more probable?) The UV (C) filter has a compact mounting ring and is multi-coated. As a result, wide-angle lenses need to avoid vignetting. The resolution test of the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12–100 mm f/4 IS PRO was based on RAW files from the Olympus E-PL1. In the case of that body the best fixed focal length lenses can get as high as about 80 lpmm (the record of 83.8 lpmm belongs to the Sigma C 1.4/30 and the Voigtlander 0.95/25 and the Olympus 1.8/75 are not far behind). The decency level we set near 44-45 lpmm.

There's a chance that I may do some video blogging. This makes the Sync-IS of the 12-100 very appealing, but I don't know if the Sync-IS is as super duper when pairing with the E-M5ii as it is the E-M1ii.At the end of this chapter traditionally we present crops taken from photos of our resolution testing scene; these are JPEG files straight from the camera which were saved along with RAW files we described above. The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm f/4 IS Pro’s advanced optical design helps deliver a high performance throughout its zoom range Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm f/4 IS Pro Features Being a senior citizen with a few injuries, kit weight is an issue for me that it isn't for you youngsters.

The hood’s full, anodized aluminum ring threads easily onto the lens, and the ring’s inside threads allow you to screw on a filter or attach a lens cap to protect the lens. To meet the minimum equipment requirements you must register a minimum of 3 products, up to a max of 10 products 1: The Olympus M.Zuiko 12-100mm F4 is a professional, small, all-purpose zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras. On a full-frame, its range corresponds to 24mm to 200mm, whereas, typically, these zoom lenses do not have the highest optical quality. I have the 14-150 II and recently bought the 12-100 Pro. The 12-100 IS Pro is indeed the better lens and gives fantastic image stabilisation in combination with the E-M1 II.LC-62E Lens Cap, LR-2 Rear Lens Cap, LSC-0811 Lens Case, Lens Hood, Instruction Manual, Warranty Card The Olympus 12-100mm F4 IS Pro is a tough, pro-level zoom lens with a focal length range that can handle practically any situation. This lens can be used is so many ways from wide angle to telephoto range images. But that isn't all. The Olympus 12-100mm f4 M.Zuiko PRO has a minimum focal distance of a tiny 1.5cm! This means that along with the obvious wide to tele options, you can also capture amazing detail at a very short range. Olympus has pulled out all the stops for this lens to perform as well as possible. It has 17 lens elements in 11 groups and a whole series of special glass types. And you see all that effort in the performance. Those are very good. In the RAW files, the sharpness in the wide-angle setting, at 12mm, is already optimal in the center at full aperture. The corners are reasonable then, but those become better after stopping down one stop, and then they are good as well. At f/5.6 and f/8, the center sharpness is a bit lower than at f/4, but the shots are truly sharp from corner to corner. At 18mm and 25mm, the center sharpness at f/4 and f/5.6 is maximal. The corners are already good at full aperture, but they get a bit better at f/5.6. If you zoom in further, then the quality of the lens slowly decreases at full aperture. It does not make much difference, but those who want maximum quality at 100mm are best off stopping down one stop.
