The source code contains the code from DIGImend, the changes I made in the upstream kernel plus the changes required to add support for your tablet. I often say I prefer smooth textures over rough ones because rough textures are known to wear out very quickly, but the texture on this tablet seems to be a lot more durable than most, so I can recommend the XP-Pen Deco 01 to those who prefer rough paper-like textures on their tablets. However, this amount of wobble at max tilt is small enough that it probably won’t be noticeable in most cases.
The stylus is true-to-life with 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, giving it the intelligence to modify, navigate and create with a full pallet of brushes and pens. If I run into a good tablet from a lesser-known brand, I’ll recommend it, but I haven’t run into many so far.The tablet itself is not a touch screen, so to interact with it you use a stylus provided with the tablet. However, that comparison is certainly one of the things I want to explore, so I may try to get my hands on the XP-Pen Deco 01 V2 when I have more time available to me.
The XP-Pen Deco 01 has a pretty rough surface texture, which is completely expected from XP-Pen as they have always been using rough textures as long as I’ve known them. For certain types of games and emulation it’s a no brainer and honestly the best way to interact with pointer focused games. Although I’m not the intended user for a graphics tablet (I presume they are mostly targeting artists) I still see it as a benefit to my workflow.Unfortunately, I have not tried the XP-Pen Deco 01 V2, so I do not know how it performs in comparison to the Huion H950P. The drawing tablet may not work properly on some foldable/detachable Chromebooks, and the mapping results may vary depending on the settings of the computer vendor, sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding. You also get a protective film cover for the tablet which changes how the using the stylus on its surfaces feels.This is one of the few small cons of the XP-Pen driver which has been around for a fairly long time now. However, I did also have an inkling that there would be some downsides for being so cheap compared to its competitors. This means that the hover delay has absolutely no effect on drawing, and you can get used to it pretty quickly. My expectations going into this review were actually rather high because I’d only heard good things about this tablet through other reviews.
