Inspired by Hermione Granger’s beaded bag, splashes of beads and a frilly finish make this bag fun for anything from a glamorous night out to stashing a ball of yarn on the run. Vera Verto Cape - well, don't know if I'll make the full cape, or just the half-cape shawls, but it's so much cabled loveliness! Designed by Rebecca Beam after the hat Hermione Granger wears in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 during the Godric’s Hollow scene. Pictured project by NarcissaM

The book is also scattered with pictures from the movies, concept drawings and behind-the-scenes facts that make it even more fun. I like all the charts for the Wizarding World Sweater and Wizarding Transportation Scarf too, whether or not I make them in the patterns as they are. Designed by Christy Aylesworth after the hat Hermione wears in the movie Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince with the scarf above. As well as the expected items-Mrs Weasley letter jumpers, house scarves and such-there are beautiful pieces which are sure to become heirloom items like the Time Turner Jumper or the Deathly Hallows shawl.The Holly Jolly Hat from Rosie Posie Knit Co on Etsy gives you lots of options, with four different sizes for babies through adults and two different options for the main colorwork — reindeer or coffee/hot chocolate mugs. The pattern also includes trees and snowflakes. They’re made with worsted weight yarn in four colors.

But of course we’re all about the knitting patterns here, and there are 27 in all in the following categories:

As someone who rarely sits still without a set of knitting needles in her hands, I was dying for a copy of the Harry Potter: Knitting Magic book from Insight Editions as soon as I saw the advertisements. This book is a compilation of knitting patterns ranging from an adorable stuffed Hedwig to costume replicas and subtle Potter-inspired wearables. There are beginners patterns in the book, but not many. It's really more of an intermediate and up sort of pattern book. While there's a range of types of patterns (toys and household through shawls, sweaters, and winter accessories), and a range of sizes, there really aren't any kid-specific wearables, if you have younger wizards in mind. Beginners as well as advanced knitters will have a lot of fun knitting up this comical Mandrake plant. This is the perfect pattern for a unique Harry Potter Gift idea. Make several of these and put them in pots to make a little Mandrake garden.

Allison Hansel designed this sweater aftere the sweaters Mrs. Weasley made for her kids and Harry for Christmas in the first movie. So, in full disclosure, I do like the first collection better. This one has (at least it feels to me) a lot more colorwork patterns, which really aren't my favorite - more of a cables and lace girl myself. Plus, I haven't gotten as into the Fantastic Beasts movies, so there isn't quite as much recognition and appeal for me. Not that this collection is weaker, just less to my personal preferences. Still, would I make any of the patterns? Definitely. My favorites: Crafty Creatures (stuffed animals from the movies - I particularly like Hedwig, though Fluffy is pretty cute too - surprised there's no Dobby, though);

Doubles over as a solid collector’s item for those fans who can’t stop adding new things to their mountain of stuff. There’s no judgement here, especially since this knitting guide looks pretty awesome." - NerdistIf you're looking to adorn your home (and life!) with unique pieces that aren't sold in stores, you might want to take a gander at the official Harry Potter knitting pattern book.” — House Beautiful This book is so well done, and the wide variety of knitting projects means there’s something in here for every Harry Potter fan." - GeekMom I can't review each pattern in this book because I have yet to make any. I am mostly comparing this knitting book to another Harry Potter knitting book I have and don't like very much. There are 19 patterns in this book I would make or consider making. This hat spells out one of the most beloved lines from the Harry Potter series along with the Deathly Hallows symbol that evokes the theme of the final book. “After all this time?” “Always,” said Snape. The pattern also includes charts for the full alphabet in addition to the hat pattern and Always chart. Designed by Mary Annarella. Worsted weight yarn.
