Carmellose is a synthetic polymer that forms a viscous eye gel. It produces a transparent, lubricating and moistening film on the surface of the eye and is used as artificial tears. If you also use an eye ointment, always use your eye drops first and wait 5 minutes before using the ointment.

If you use carmellose sodium with other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes before using your other eye drops. The second eye drops can wash out the carmellose sodium and it may not work as well.

Once you have put the drops in you should throw away the dose unit, even if there is some medicine left in it.
