About this deal

The reason these products did not exist until very recently is that until USB4, published in 2019, the USB spec did not define how hubs with multiple USB-C ports were supposed to work. It takes time to ramp up production of devices to a new spec so that is part of the delay. There's no doubt that some fly-by-night electronics manufacturers built USB-C hubs but they were often fire hazards and always behaved oddly. The female-Type-A legacy cable to male Type-C is a legal cable assembly, per spec. I think it is a misprint in the question. USB-C is widely adopted. Android smartphones, Apple MacBooks, Nintendo Switch consoles, e-readers and wireless earphones are a few examples of products that universally use USB-C connections. While the Apple iPhone doesn’t currently use a USB-C connection – opting for its patented Lightning cable – the cable provided with the iPhone does connect to USB-C ports. Given the upcoming European regulations, even Apple iPhones should soon be moving over to USB-C. Fancy upgrading to a wireless phone charger? We’ve ranked our favourites. This is an old question with a new solution. In the last few months Other World Computing released a USB4/Thunderbolt hub. https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/TB4HUB5P/
