The Nomad Bedouin 2 LW Tent is a bit of a curveball for the list as it is a large, heavy tent. Not ideal for hiking, but great for cycling trips where you will be wild camping. Lightweight and sturdy construction - fully-geodesic pole design provides unrivalled strength without the weight. The MSR Elixir 2 is an easy to assemble tent which claims to have a “true-to-size” capacity for 2 people.
The bedroom space offered is just the right size for two people to get a good rest after a long day trekking, however, you might find that you don’t have a lot of storage space for your kit as the porch is fairly small. The porch area has been designed to accommodate bikes, so you can store them inside the tent and keep them dry. If you split this between the two of you, it will still be fairly heavy, but you will have a significant amount of storage available to you. There’s so much information available online when we’re shopping now, that it’s easy to find lots of detail about products like Berghaus Grampian 3 Tent. This is of course really helpful, but there’s almost too much information available, so it’s important to know exactly what you’re looking for. That got us thinking though, that we’re looking at every possible item from Berghaus so it would be good to narrow our search down even further and only look at Berghaus branded products within the Weekend Tents category. The cost of Berghaus Weekend Tents The final tent on my list is the Hilleberg Nallo 2 GT Tent. This tent has been designed with all-weather camping in mind. The hydrostatic head rating of 5,000mm for the fly is great for the rain and the 15,000mm rating for the groundsheet means this tent could probably double up as a boat!If you are looking for a light, affordable tent for wild camping, the Forclaz Trek 900 might be a good option for you. The hydrostatic head is quite low on this tent, but should be ample for most of the year in the UK.
The downside to buying online is that you can’t actually get hold of the product to try it out first. The hydrostatic head rating of the fly and groundsheet means that this tent can survive easily in spring, summer and autumn, just as Vangi suggest by giving this a 3 season rating. The Lightwave t20 Trail tunnel tent is a 4 season tent, meaning it is designed to be used in all weathers. The hydrostatic head of 5,000mm is more than adequate for UK weather. The design of the tent gives you a couple of medium size storage areas for your gear, with the bedroom size being fairly standard. The Vango Banshee 200 is a 2 man tent designed with a great space to weight ratio. At 2.4kg, this tent is a good weight for carrying with you on your next wild camping trip.The downside with this tent is the weight. At 4.2kg, you will need to split this between the 2 of you to make it comfortable to carry. The outer width of 175cm gives you a small storage area for your camping gear, but not really enough if you are planning on camping for a long period of time and will need more gear with you.
The Naturehike 20D Mongar is designed to be lightweight and tough. At 2,180 grams, it is not too heavy for one person to carry on a long trek, whilst the anti-stretch fabric with added rip-stop technology creates an extra-strong and durable outer shell.As you can see there are lots of factors to consider when looking for a tent for wild camping. From my research, I believe that the best 2 man tent for wild camping is the Vango F10 Xenon UL 2+ as it offers a great balance between prices and performance. If you know you are likely to be camping in milder weather, the Naturehink 20D Mongar is a great value for money option. The storage area of the tent is small, which means this tent is better suited to lighter/shorter camping trips. When buying Weekend Tents, the quality of the product is going to be one of the factors that you really scrutinise before you commit to buying.
