About this deal

Once you enter the water, it’s important to maintain your body temperature for as long as possible. Keep yourself active in the water to feel more comfortable and extend the length of time you can spend surfing. Paddle all the waves you can and don’t stay still for too long. Why is the surf better in winter? However, science is not the only reason the waves feel heavier. We also need to consider the human mind and body. Water conducts heat away from the body 25 times faster than air. What this means for the winter surf is that it can become physically demanding in ways a warm water session might not. It is energy sapping, meaning of course that when the hold downs come, they can feel heightened due to your own levels of tiredness and dipping energy reserves. In the UK (and much of the world) autumn and winter swells bring in bigger, cleaner and more consistent waves. Compared to the UK’s one to four foot summer ‘wave-lets’, winter regularly sees waves of over four feet and they can reach up to twelve foot. Winter is a special time for surfers everywhere. The summer crowds thin out and the surf starts to get bigger and more consistent. Along with all the stoke that winter surfing brings, winter also means cold. Ranging from chilly to freezing depending on where you’re surfing, the cold is going to hit you pre-surf, mid-session, and post-surf, so it pays to be prepared. Winter is the best time of year to gosurfing in Morocco. Excellent swells hit the coast between December and March, while the water temperature stays around 64°F (18°C).

Your wetsuit is only adequate if it’s a snug, shape-hugging fit. This ensures the warmer water inside your wetsuit doesn’t mix with the colder water from the ocean outside, cooling you down. Primetime for surfing in the Philippines is between December and April when the average water temperature stays around 80 °F (27 °C). Winter is a time for waves. It’s as though mother nature wants to continue to tempt us surfers out into lineup when the water temperature suggests staying home is the toastier option. She chooses this season to deliver the best waves of the year, and for surfers it is important to be fully prepared.Listen to your body. ‘Paddling and being active will keep you warm in the sea, but once you get tired and run out of energy then the cold will start to set in. It’s really important to listen to your body, especially in the colder months. Avoid changing huddled behind the open car door or behind a towel, as this won’t offer wind protection. Don’t forget to swap out the warm water surf wax for a cold-water version. Warm water surf wax in cold conditions will make the wax become hard and in turn result in less traction. This is an easily made oversight that can ruin a session and actually put you in danger if you can’t stop slipping from your board. Flexibility is handled by their Ultra Stretch IR, stretchy neoprene that’s not going to slow you down through manoeuvres on the wave. It is also a solid fitting boot due to its contoured design and is technically a warmer boot because of the round to style. Available in sizes UK 4 to UK 12, the Session boot is an excellent mid-range boot for the serious surfer who doesn’t need to stretch to the top end. These boots are excellent when paired with gloves and hoods from either the Wired or Legend ranges. The C-Skins Session 5mm Round Toe Boot The Wired Range (C-Skins)

As well as the suit, this is the time to get that hood on, pop some winter boots on your feet and break out the gloves. Warmth is your biggest ally on a cold surfing day and a full suit in great condition with all the accessories is your best friend. Morocco has become the number one choice for European surfers, especially during those long and cold winter months. Unruly waves like Anchor Point, Killer Point, Safi, Boilers, Imsouane (The Bay) and Essaouira await experienced surfers, while the many surf camps inTaghazout, Tamraght, and Agadir welcome beginners looking to catch their first wave, intermediates looking to progress to gree waves, as well as advanced surfers in need of some extra guidance.During winter (October-April), the famous waves on Hawaii'snorthern shores come to life. This is the best time to surf onOahu’s legendary North Shore, home to the Seven Mile Miracle, a stretch of coast that’s home to 36 world-class breaks. This is also when Maui's North Shore receives powerful swells. It utilises water-tight double-sealed stitchless seams with TB4 Firewall technology that helps trap your body’s heat. While many people picture surfing as sunny Californian beaches and palm trees, we know the sport can offer so much more.
