About this deal

Leslie was tall but he was quite overweight from snacking on the pastry temptations that were always surrounding him. The narrative style is easy and sharp, with a colourful, humorous edge that keeps things lively and engaging. He said I was a good, honest boy because I went to church after getting saved at the Good News Club on my holidays at the caravan in Millisle. There’s also a nod to West Side Story in the musical, where Tony gets to revisit a stage show he appeared in while a pupil at Belfast Royal Academy. In 2019 Tony was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Ulster University for services to literature and peace building at home and abroad.

The two overlapping shells close securely, ensuring hygienic storage with smooth operating hinges allowing the upper shell to open for easy access. I wondered if our shared love of bread provided a common bond, which held out some hope for peace in the future. Have had a silver one of these for years - following a kitchen upgrade thought I'd brighten things a bit with a lime green one. Tony Macaulay captures life in Belfast in the late 1970s with such accuracy and humour that every page is great read, although it does help if you've grown up in Northern Ireland yourself.

There were some nice moments and songs, though, in this rites of passage tale of the teenager working the Ormo bread van. Additionally it gives an insight into what it was like to grow up in working class Belfast at the height of the troubles. The King is dead – and even Big Duff, the hardest loyalist hard man on the whole estate has been seen to shed a tear.

Auditions will take place in Dublin on January 30, venue to be confirmed, at St Cecilia’s House, Derry on February 5, Lyric Theatre, Belfast on February 6 and at the Spectrum Centre, Shankill Road and Falls Road Leisure Centre, Falls Road, on February 18. Elvis Presley has just died, Saturday Night Fever and Grease are huge hits at the cinema and Princess Leia is the breadboy’s big crush. And the Troubles inevitably hang over proceedings, with 1977 the key year in which the narrative is set. And author Tony Macaulay is hopeful that a young unknown talent from the west of the city will rise to the challenge and star in the show.Following the smash-hit musical Paperboy that had 2 sell-out runs at the Lyric Theatre Belfast in 2019 and 2018, this new witty, heart-warming show will explore Tony Macaulay's second memoir Breadboy.

I wanted to listen to ABBA’s Arrival album on the stereogram in the sitting room and stare at Agnetha in a white jumpsuit beside a helicopter on the cover. Tony Macaulay has asserted his right under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 to be identified as the author of this work. There were mouthwatering delights from floor to ceiling, apart from at the entrance to the driver’s cab and a small window at the back. There was tragedy - Mr Oliver's death, slightly lost in the action onstage - and there was naturally comedy too as Macaulay has a gift for observational humour. The Bee Gees fill the airwaves, there’s Smash and fishfingers on the table for tea, and Tony’s love of peace and pets is soon rivalled by his interest in parallel universes and punk … and girls, especially gorgeous Judy Carlton, who sits opposite him in Chemistry. It is hoped that Paperboy might yet still get to tour the States, where there is much interest in Belfast and the stories of ordinary people living through strife. Leslie was a big good livin’ man, which meant that he didn’t drink or smoke or say ‘fuck’ a lot like most men. The story also focuses on his big promotion to breadboy, delivering baps and buns to the residents around the top of the Shankill Road, Woodvale, Glencairn and Springmartin.
