Elton wrote and directed Close Up: The Twiggy Musical (2023) which had it's world premier at the Menier Chocolate Factory, London. There's a campy thread that goes throughout the book that felt like it would have been the far more compelling (and satisfying) thread to follow. But if it was just a matter of identity, or the medium through which views are expressed, the positions would be less tendentious than they are.

There are a range of characters in this book, and some of them are clearly caricatures that are designed to be ridiculed and are clearly "taken too far" - such as the historian trying to prosecute sex offenders from history and the incel twitter troll who claims his "identity" is Wotan Orc Slayer and that's how he wants to be referred too. Shortly afterwards, he reunited Rik Mayall and Edmondson with their Young Ones co-star Nigel Planer for the showbiz send-up sitcom Filthy, Rich and Catflap. He will also make his theatre debut as the Rebel Leader (previously known as Pop) in a production of the show in 2023 at the London Coliseum from 2 June to 27 August. Meanwhile each day another public figure confesses to having 'misspoken' and begs for forgiveness on Twitter, assuring the public 'That is not who I am'.Sometimes [it's]deliberately, sometimes it's just a natural human instinct to enjoy outrage and enjoy a fight. I'm a Clement Attlee man," he says – and the criticism he's received (as has his friend Emma Thompson, who "gets a lot of this, too") is a classic example of the left "eating itself, because everybody loves to see the left with feet of clay. The medieval sitcom The Black Adder (BBC, 1983) had been formed by Richard Curtis and Rowan Atkinson and lavishly shot on region. Yes, there was a plot, flicking back and forth between different characters that tied together in the end, but I didn’t really feel connected to the characters.

But way too many characters and not funny and there was not the usual Elton surprise factor in the story line. The wider world in which the microcosm is occurring is just as crazy - not only have we had the Brexit referendum, but now a similar vote is forthcoming to decide on Britain's future as the United Kingdom, or if it will break up.Speaking to Adrian Chiles on BBC Radio 5 Live on broadcast day, Elton readily admitted that because of the fluid UK political situation, "I honestly haven't written the first five minutes yet! And for that, he says, we do have to blame the old media, who, thanks to endless cuts and insufficient staff are "increasingly looking to Twitter for their f.
