Jones’ foundational bass lines register with uncommon depth and palpability, the litheness of the strings and fullness of the instrument epitomising the definition of rhythm. Adderley was a member of Davis' group at the time, and the album was recorded shortly after Davis' own landmark album Milestones.

A slip case, which holds two slip cases, each holds a slip-flip-cardboard thingy, which holds a MoFi sleeve. Somethin' Else is an album by American jazz saxophonist Julian "Cannonball" Adderley, recorded on March 9, 1958 and released on Blue Note in August later that year—his only album for the label. but don’t go thinking all of his music is as soulful as that found here, Adderley was a seminal influence on the driving style of Hard Bop, and there was no holding him back if he decided to rip loose and swing with faster tempos . Housed in a deluxe slipcase, it features special foil-stamped jackets and faithful-to-the-original graphics that illuminate the splendour of the recording. And then listen as bassist Sam Jones and drummer Art Blakey seize some of those stone-simple pianistic rejoinders and transform them into fuel for further agitation.
