The excess dried resin comes off in white flakes, which makes a bit of a mess. It took me about 5 minutes to do a thorough job here, as I didn’t want any leftover resin obstructing the view. Apply with a dry cloth and wipe the Rain-X Rain Repellent in a circular, overlapping motion; once you’ve allowed the product to dry, re-apply again and, once the final coat is dry, remove the final layer with a dry cloth or a sprinkling of water. In the instructions, the manufacturer recommends you hold the blade at a 90 degree angle. However, I found this hard to scrape any excess off with, so instead worked the blade at approximately 45 degrees to the windshield, and used short, fast motions to scrape off the excess residue. If you wait too long, an expensive professional replacement may be the only fix. But if the chip is small and you act promptly, DIY windshield repair kits can save you time and money. As the resin cures it bonds with the glass and dries in a transparent fashion, meaning that you can see through it like normal glass. Unfortunately I won’t be able to give my own experience as to the long-term longevity of the repair, as the whole windshield is being replaced under insurance this week.

From this point I followed the manufacturer's instruction for attaching the resin chamber, adding drops of resin into it and screwing in the plunger. I let this sit for about 10 minutes. I then removed the tools according to the manufacturers instructions, applied a drop of resin to the impact point and covered it with a curing strip from the kit. Once I moved my car to direct sunlight I let it sit for 20 minutes. I touched the curing strip all around the point of impact and saw that no resin was still liquid under the strip, removed it, and scrapped off the excess with the razor blade.
