About this deal

You absolutely can tell that the EDP and EDT of Hypnotic Poison share the same DNA. However, compared to the EDT, the EDP is less sweet, more powdery, more dry, and a bit dusty. As much as i love the eau de toilette, this eau de parfum version just irritates me because it has potential but ends up smelling underwhelming. I had to go through a bit of a battle with this perfume. I wrote an initial review for it over a year ago, and my thoughts and opinions have changed since then in a few ways. Nevertheless, the top and base notes above stand out for me, not the middle notes. I don't want to do a lengthy review, but there is a lot to say about this perfume, and I will never stop if I start. I really like you Hypnotic Poison which will be in my collection forever. I recommend anyone to take a test; it is a perfume that provokes even richer sensations/feelings than its notes.

What would I DO wearing this perfume: Cuddle, kiss, dance, eating s’mores, drink wine, eating out, late night walks, stargazing, photo shoots. Its heavy, quite strong and if oversprayed could be stuffy and cloying, but a small amount will go along way so even a small bottle would last ages. At first spray i couldn't even really decipher anything in particular, it was just like a sweeter stronger version of the edt, but like many others that have reviewed this one; i let it sit for abot 5-7 minutes and once it dried, it bloomed into something amazing.

The almond note is heaven on earth, the spicy something I sense is heaven as well and the musk is must have. I wonder if ther eis some other very clean musk fragrance to layer it with this, for better projection? Hmmm... and no for me this is not a dark scent at all. The moment it hits the skin, it is a skin scent, warm, cozy, sexy, creamy, cuddly, not a vampire kind of a thing, which I would not be into anyway. I LOVE this stuff! It's a burning, syrupy licorice, vanilla and almond with a dusty powdery vibe to it. I almost get cherry too, but it's not in the note listing. Quite linear on my skin. Orange, toasted almond and liquorice make up the head notes of this perfume. Next heart notes of orange blossom and jasmine move in. At last a deluge of vanilla and tonka bean arises to conclude the olfactory experience. (Tonka beans come from Central and South America. The chemical compound coumarin, gives them a deep vanilla-like scent.) This overall sweetness is absolutely scrumptious. Dior-Fragrances Price UK This is a vanilla-nut fragrance that just skirts being a gourmand. While there are notes here that I do like—the classic Poison plum opener is there, the combination of rose and coconut is a winner, as is rosewood—the nutty, earthy smell repels me. I have a deep and personal hatred of nut smells (except coconut), and putting bitter, woody and muddy almond in a perfume is my idea of a nightmare. Adding carraway in there too, and it reads as just bitter and dirty to my nose.

Once the perfume settled down completely, you could definitely smell that it’s related to the EDT. It has the same enveloping vibe to it.

This is actually one of my most worn perfumes the last few months. It's very calming. I put it on for yoga class even though I don't normally wear perfume at the gym. Bought Dior's Hypnotic Poison EDP because I smelt the EDT in the shop and loved it, so decided to upgrade to a perfume so that I could get the most mileage out of the scent.

Overall the EDP is not as complex as the EDT, but still complex enough compared to most of the stuff out there. Anyway i recommend l'occitane's almond products. Some smell different than others so try at your own discretion. My personal favorites are the Almond Supple Skin Oil and the Almond Milk Veil lotion, I'll throw those on after a sower and feel so damn luxurious. I also recommend a bar of Sultana Of Soap from Lush. It really leans into that 'sweet italian desert' scent family and balances things in my opinion. I also love the scrubee from lush. What better way to introduce more sweet almond that to literally exfoliate with almonds. I haven't found a deodorant i like to compliment my collection, i've been trying various vanilla ones, but nothing has really hit the spot.

I received my little poison friend, unwrapped it like the most precious thing on earth, sprayed on my wrists, took a sniff and immediately felt avenged for all my previous blind buy fails. "You've got a friend in me" kind of comfort from it reaching out to my heart to fill me with joy. Not star crossed lovers anymore but real twin flames. Update: My practicality nose blind husband who only compliments me on a select few scents that i wear, always, always tells me i smell good when i wear this. I wore it to a wedding recently and got many compliments. It lasted all day and all night, so it's got some staying power alright. Those comments about play dough is only apparent in the initial spray- 10mins especially when you sniff it directly on spray point on air or scent bubble this is beautiful. Dont leave a review if you only sniff it on single spray point. You should give it a proper wearing and observe its whole life span. After the 10min mark , it smoothen out perfectly. Cough syrup? Eh, if La Petite Robe Noir didn't have the cherry note (I feel the urge to add - and if it was a good perfume, pardon moi), they could be cousins or even half-siblings. LPRN eau de cough syrup pissed me off but I'm of the opinion that if you like it, you have a high chance of liking Hypnotic Poison EDT. Not a blind buy. No way. Especially because I find it very mature and a little bit vintage. I am 31, and for now, I have never smelled any girl in the 20s wearing it, and around where I live, thank God tho, coz I do not like to smell like everyone, what a nightmare.
