About this deal
After about 2 weeks of use, a residue of “whiskers” is left in the cleaning station, just near to the drain hole. The really issue for me is that I have a chance to get one of them for free – I like to know if you where in my shoes which one would you choose! While stainless steel gets a large part of its corrosion resistance from chromium, there are near-endless combinations of various metals marketed as stainless steel today.
Also, if you already own any 93xxcc, 94xxcc or 95xxcc model you can get any 93xxs, 94xxs or 95xxs solo shaver and use it with your existing cleaning center. With that out of the way, let’s see what are the most important differences between the four generations and if or how they affect shaving performance. Why are the Braun recommendations the same (18 months) regardless of method of use, when the reality is that wet use (as with DE wet/foam shaving) results in a quickly dulling blade from water minerals and added blade friction.Anyway that’s just my preference with regards to the Series 9, I think the station is worth the extra money. And until the introduction of the 93xx, 94xx, and 95xx models, the answer would have been extremely simple and straightforward: No. Will charging the Panasonic ES-LV95-S in the accompanying station also take care of lubrication or only clean and charge the shaver? Regarding the orientation of the Series 9 shaving head, I wouldn’t say that one way is better than the other. Even given the cutters are fresh out of the box, this model gives me the best shave in over 50 years.
I think the best approach to distinguish between the two possible orientations would be to simply touch and feel the shaving head. I found that the head orientation is best with the Hyper- Lift-and-Cut trimmer facing the back of the shaver. After the launch of the second generation Series 9, there was also a shortage of 92s/92b replacement shaving heads. The closeness of the shave with the Series 9 Pro seems to be slightly better compared to the regular Series 9, even though the two foil elements have remained unchanged — there’s no info from Braun regarding any improvements in that area. One physical difference between a cc and a solo shaver is that the former features a special coat of paint that should withstand constant exposure to the alcohol-based solution. And with the introduction of the Series 9 93xx and 94xx, they continued to push this idea, stating that the new shavers feature a 4+1 Pro Head.
