About this deal

But I understand that an appreciation for a fragrance is something highly personal so I'll add this. The only things that link these two scents are really good longevity and a lack of developing on the skin, all the time it smells the same.

Sadly, the person that had kept me waiting phoned me in the worst possible moment: when he and I were most amused in our conversation. The drydown is slightly powdery and would almost qualify for a vintage scent but it should be more potent. I arrived a little early; maybe I did not look very professional, but my look was very modern and I felt quite comfortable with it. Someone mentioned vintage Tom Ford Violet Blonde: spot on, although the creaminess and powderiness also give it sort of a vibe reminiscent of a classic like Hermes 24 Faubourg. He said the event sounded rather interesting and that he wished that his totally fancy university had provided him with that kind of opportunities. At the base I smell the remnants of the violet note, but the ylang ylang, accompanied by a quiet rose takes more of the stage. In the years to come, I believe that my perfume collection may grow bigger and bigger, but if I had to give it up and just choose two perfumes, that would be Maitresse along with another one of my favorites, Caresse from Fragonard. I really love it, easy to wear, a bit different and really comfortable, doesn't irritate me at all, just melds into my skin. Sillage is moderate for the first 3-4 hours and mellows to a close, but not skin close scent for the rest of it's duration, 8+ hours.

A couple reviews below talk about it being a scent they imagine Marilyn Monroe wearing, I agree, but this is Marilyn in Norma Jean mode, not glamorous Marilyn on the silver screen, rather she is relaxing at home in a silk kimono after a long, pampering hot bath and indulgent skin care rituals. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. There are some quite obscure notes in there - I think I can detect the osmanthus, I had one in a previous garden - but exactly what white lotus or white suede are supposed to smell like, I have no idea. This opens with a watery violet leaf and lotus scent, which picks up a little musk and a lot of powder as it dries down.

For me, Maitresse is my perfume overdose, a magnificent concoction of floral mixed with aldehyde notes, gentle and soft, desirable and flirtatious at the same time. I came back to this, it was so intriguing, as if it could speak a closed language, or as if I had to take the time to find the key, solve the clues, understand it. I love it just because it's so pleasing to me, rather than for any effect it may have on the man in my life (who would probably be more excited by a fragrance based on bacon anyway! Now that it's warmer, the main note on me is the Lotus petals and I can actually detect the suede note now too. Today is one of those days when I am feeling quite conceptual and European (as one of my former professors would say), so what you will read is my personal experience with Maîtresse.
