About this deal

He's still getting a ton of love, but if you are a huge fan of EotV's female characters, this book will delight you.

I did like Kristoff’s penchant for smooshing words together (knifebright, daysdeath, silversteel… twatgoblin). The only things that remind me of the fact are that there are so many mentions of potatoes and how much Gabriel hates them. Jay Kristoff skillfully weaves the journeys of our reluctant hero and the chosen one with themes of found family, family drama, morally grey heroes, and sometimes redeemed villains.

This may not have been the decision you might have made, but to me, I didn’t feel comfortable supporting Jay Kristoff and effectively promoting his work to help him sell more. The way Gabriel constantly says he’s a bastard or asshole, and then he wanted his chronicler to acknowledge this multiple times (which he did and Gabe was so proud of them) made me cringe and eye-rolled so hard.

Samplers don't really tell you that much about a read in its entirety, but they do tell you if you are going to want to stick it out for over 700 pages of the story. So tell me why, not 5 chapters later his protagonist, his Gabriel, who up until then has been working himself to the bone, turns out to be from some mystical all-powerful bloodline that was previously thought to be extinct. I will never re-read Nevernight because of the fear that the veil has been pulled back and it will be the same as Empire. Most of my time reading this book was spent perched at the edge of my seat, unknowingly holding my breath.

The words were a kind of magic, taking me by the hand and sweeping me into lands unseen, times unremembered, thoughts unimagined. I haven’t read many vampire books, but if you know of any that don’t get much love then please share! Special thanks to my Patrons on Patreon for giving me extra support towards my passion for reading and reviewing!I shall love no woman, save our Mother and Maid, I shall seek no respite, save in paradise at the right hand of my Heavenly Father. Gabriel gathers all the nuns, monks, and blacksmiths in service to the Silversaints to stop the vampires.

Various forms of profanity were unleashed, and cursings felt like a form of art being wielded brilliantly to augment emotions, comedy, and narrative. In a way, the standard edition of Empire of the Vampire alone already feels like a special edition for many other fantasy books right now.Just funny how two people can take the same piece of writing and take totally different things away from it! Gabriel’s mother, his love interest, his close friend, an authoritative figure at the monastery, every female vampire, women he barely knows who pass through the story. In the ensuing battle, Liathe arrives and slays the other vampires, while Gabriel duels Danton until Dior stabs the distracted vampire in the back with a sword smeared with her blood, destroying him.
