I use a Tech21 Blond v2 (with the speaker defeat switch) for that application - direct into mixer - and that is my recommendation. The Actnes are there because a walk with a Matchless DC30 or Vox AC 30 in a F1 flichtcase isn't always a joy and not needed, because a venue isn't suited for a large amp or the band use a PA. Higher gain settings on the pedals can quickly get messy and unwieldly, but setting them for moderate or edge-of-breakup type gain and using a good boost or OD in front of them gives a much tighter, controlled overdrive or distortion tone. The problem your having with the Joyo Acetone (VOX amp emulation pedal) is by placing it front of either the VOX AC15 VR or Amplug, you are either putting in front of a VOX amp or in front of a VOX Amplug AC30, you should only have only have one in your chain at a time.

While the Joyo is a good pedal, one easy way to improve it is to run the output into an active DI, then whatever stage snake/amp/mixer you're using. Of course, I did spend some time setting it up to create the tone I needed through my particular set-up, and I do use a very high quality power supply (the 1Spot). Because all other users ( who arn't born yesterday regarding our ecuipment)have no problem with there Actone's. Someone here chimed in about how incredible the Joyo version of that concept was, and I just couldn't resist. It also comes with a Dyna Comp-based compressor and can supply power to up to eight separate pedals.But the amplitude would never reach the theoretical maximum, because of clipping in the following gain stage. Ammoon combines these three essentials into one multipurpose floor unit: the Tone Bus + Power Supply.

The top boost amps do sound great and the new models of the A/C 30 don't sound like those old ones so if you have one hold onto it.I will sing the praises of the Ferrari California to the high heavens, but I can offer you a road test of the Miata from firsthand experience. Do not run you iron too hot (hence the leaded solder), and be quick, or the copper pads may de-laminate. I still think if you have a nice valve amp, then why not modify the speaker out socket to a line out, I have done this and get an incredible recording sound. Yeah, from what I've seen most of the VIAB pedals are preamps meant to be put into a power amp or PA directly. But bear in mind that old cards were made with non-RoHS, lead-based solder which is a bit easier to work with (lower melting temperature).
