About this deal

Side Rails: Integrated into the patterning and construction, they provide a secure, comfortable sleep by centering you on the pad and inhibiting air movement while tossing and turning. It doesn't claim to provide any significant warmth, and I noticed this on its first use, when I was backpacking in the High Uintas of Utah, and the temperature got down to around 30 degrees. However, I think I need to practice inflating it to the limit, then shutting the valve as quickly as possible before any air leaks out.

From extra stable bottoms, to super light and extra large mattresses, there is something for everyone and for every adventure. You can feel the cross in the pillow, but it didn’t seem to be a problem and possibly centralised my head better. The previous generation of the Static V2 was equipped with the classic screw valve seen on sleeping pads from a bygone age. The Insulated Double V is super comfortable double sleeping mat that gives you both a lot more protection from the cold, keeping you both warm through the night. Whether you're an extreme mountain athlete or a weekend sunseeker, the Klymit range offers something for everyone: insulated airbeds to featherlight ground pads, sleeping bags, and more.

It's also rigorously tested in the canyons and high deserts of Utah before it receives the stamp of approval. As others have said, your breath is hot so the pad will flatten a bit after the air cools, just add another breath before you hit the hay and it stays firm all night.

In contrast to conventional air mats, whose profile is flattened when loaded, the profile of Klymit mats remains voluminous. I was also a bit tired of chasing my pillow around during the night, and I liked the fact that the Klymit pad came with an integral pillow. I touched on the Static V2’s comfort in the “design” section, but I will cover comfort and stability in more detail here. Other 48" pads (all thinner, some narrower, one wider) have all been around 26-30 ounces - still not "heavy", but on longer expeditions, ounces add up quickly in a pack. Moving onto the design of the V2, it’s innovative and patented “V shape” technology really sets is apart from other pads.

I personally don't care, I can blow up a pad, but if you want to just open the valve and let it go, look into a different pad. It’s a great mat, ideal for summer use or, as I intend to use it, doubled up with another mat in colder weather.

And some air pads can be — they often take 25 or more breaths to inflate, which is a lot at the end of a long hike. The Double is a couple’s pad, and the Junior is for children or ultralighter’s that want a torso pad. The exclusive V-chamber design conforms to the shape of your body while maintaining ample, lofted air pockets. It also limits where the air can go when you roll around, helping to keep your body from touching the ground at your heavier points.
