This version looked to top all previous versions, so I had to (over)pay for it when I saw it at a vendor last weekend at SDCC.This collectible 6-inch scale Marvel figure is inspired by Nightcrawler’s appearance in Marvel Studios’ X-Men ‘97 animated series. This costume is reminiscent of the 80s comic book costume from when Magneto was affiliated with the Hellfire Club, so it’s not an entirely unprecedented look. High quality, realistic 6-inch Legends Series Nightcrawler figure is a great addition to any fan, or collector action figure collection. X-Cutioner is legitimately not a character I ever considered asking for a modern 6” figure of, even though there was a whole 90s X-Men crossover story titled after him.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The upper upper torso uses red plastic to get a bright red than the lower parts of the body, but the colors look good overall. A longterm member of the X-Men, The teleporting mutant Nightcrawler is in his black and red suit and with a sword weapon and alternative sword hand and two alternative heads. Nightcrawler now has double-pinless arms and legs, sculpted gloves and boots, plus shading around his eyes on the heads. Finally, we’ve got a figure whose success will really depend on the release of the new animated series, in my opinion.I thought it was a sure thing we’d see the teleportation ring from the recent Blink figure reused here, but nope! I was an overall big fan of the inaugural Marvel Legends X-Men 97 series, as I thought it gave us very good takes on every character in the lineup—just with a dearth of accessories in most cases. and the sword not being able to be held tightly, but this is a wonderful Nightcrawler Marvel Legends figure overall. Nightcrawler is my hands-down, favorite X-Man, if not my favorite comic book character altogether, but I have never really loved any of his action figures. Also getting a big update is Marvel Legends Jean Grey, who Hasbro has kindly given us long-haired and short-haired heads off as part of this release.

In addition to two extra heads and an extra right hand, Nightcrawler comes with his swashbuckling sword. With sticky hands, a sharp tail, and piercing yellow eyes, the trouble-making mutant Nightcrawler scales walls and teleports from place to place. I don’t feel like it’s hyperbole for me to say that Nightcrawler is one of my absolute favorite figures to come out of Legends in a while. I expected the cheerful head to be my favorite, but in actuality I think the neutral expression works well for pretty much any situation.However, plenty of other mutant projects are on their way, like the continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series. Hasbro has been servicing X-Men fans like never before the last few years, and so it was only a matter of time until they got around to releasing everyone’s favorite fuzzy elf himself—Nightcrawler! While Nightcrawler wasn’t part of either Jim Lee X-Men Team (he was on the roster of Excalibur at the time), he’s a universally loved character that fans will want a figure of from that same era. Yeah, there’s some bleed through on the red paint, which is a shame, but surprisingly there’s none at all on the white.
