Mermaid School is the first in an exciting new series written by Lucy Courtenay and illustrated by Sheena Dempsey, following the adventures of Marnie Blue and friends. Includes all of what’s included in the Group Mermaid Experience, however having less mermaids and mermen, will give us more time for perfecting moves, photography and a more individual experience. I love how these details have been mentioned, it makes the whole story all the more lovely and the illustrations on almost every page really added to how lovely the whole story felt.

This fabulously fishy and fun adventure is the first in a new series and just perfect for fans of The Worst Witch, Bad Mermaids and the My Secret Unicorn series.I also wasn't a huge fan of some of the illustrations (the mermaids are okay but the ocean creatures not so much) but on the whole it was charming enough for me to seek out the next one in the series.

It’s all a lot more interesting than the average primary school, and Orla’s story in particular involves Marnie in a very exciting adventure.The drama adds an excellent opportunity to explore concepts of understanding, empathy and compassion. Mermaid lessons will allow them the opportunity to dive into a world of underwater paradise and practice their skills and become true mermaids and mermen. Marnie Blue is worried about her first day at Mermaid School, for all the usual reasons: will she make friends?

Marnie is soon branded a troublemaker by her grumpy octopus music teacher and wants nothing more than to clam up.
