I think the most powerful image for me was Milo, looking at himself and wondering how people see him. What Milo learns in the end is that you shouldn't judge a person so quickly only after a small encounter or what they're wearing because they might surprise you and may be on the same journey as you. In addition, this is a thoughtful and sensitive representation of what it’s like to visit a parent in prison, and is an important book to share with mid to upper end primary aged children to open up a conversation about what prison is and the role it plays in society and within many families.

This author and illustrator are my favorite dynamic duo and I continue to look forward to their work. Christian Robinson received a Caldecott Honor and a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor for his art in Last Stop on Market Street .Manages to be sophisticated while also bringing in the joy and wonder associated with picture books.
