About this deal

Thanks to the fully multi-coated optics that helps cut glare and improves light transmission, contrast, and color rendition; all essential things in low light viewing. The binoculars are waterproof for five minutes up to a depth of 2 meters, which you'll never need to worry about while stargazing (or, to be honest, bird watching, unless you manage to drop them in a pond somehow! seems to us that if you know about it ahead of time, however, the blurred ring isn't likely to be as much of a distraction as it was for us initially.

If you are not sure which Travel lite V binocular to go for, this chart, that compares their main specifications and may help. We weren't expecting an outstanding performance from these binoculars when we pointed them at the stars, but we were pleasantly surprised. If you wear glass and want to use binoculars then go for Nikon Travelite 8x because of its 14 mm eye relief. Perhaps more importantly, O-ring seals and nitrogen gas within the optical system prevent fogging — a design feature we were massively impressed by as we moved from warmer indoor temperatures into the chillier outdoors. to your eyes makes your view significantly darker at 12X and that means fewer observable details, contrast, and clarity.

For example, Jupiter's moons were on the edge of perception in the Nikon Travelite EX 8x25 binoculars, but a pair of 10x50s (or larger) show them clearly.

One of the main differences between the zoom and non-zoom versions of the Travelite series is that because of the zoom these do not feature the aspherical eyepiece lenses that minimise distortion and provide sharp images up to the periphery. The down side is that you must support yourself or the binocular when using the x24 setting as with increased magnifications the amount of image shake increases. Nikon’s multilayer lens coating delivers superior light transmission for bright, clear images and aspherical eyepiece lenses minimize image distortion. For binoculars that are designed for night-sky viewing yet are at a fair budget that doesn't break the bank, the Celestron 7x50 Cometron are suitable for observing the moon, stars, bright deep-sky targets and the planets with very good contrast and clarity. All Nikon binoculars, like the other Japanese binocular manufacturers, tend to focus on technology while providing a great pair of optics, without sacrificing quality and their Travelite Range is no different. It is for this reason that most birders tend to choose 7x or 8x binoculars to get the wides field of view possible, making it easier to spot fast moving objects like birds. The fairly large field of view was further brought home when we shifted southeastwards from the moon in Taurus (the Bull) to the constellation of Orion (the Hunter). The extra aperture really does make a difference for astronomy, as it allows you to see more detail and a wider selection of targets. As with all types of binoculars, zoom binoculars are best for certain kinds of uses and not so good for others.

Nikon Travelite EX 8x25 binoculars review | Space

Axial chromatic aberration results in blurred colors in the front and back of the focus position due to differences in each color’s focal point. The Nikon Travelite EX 8x25 binoculars were able to make out some of the stars of the Trapezium Cluster, though again not nearly as many as the larger and more powerful binoculars. It is not often that you find a binocular with a 9x magnification, but this one is really interesting.
