About this deal

I feel like games like this might not always get the recognition they deserve, whether that’s because they are seen as too simple, said to be very juvenile, or be based on a concept that doesn’t seem interesting enough to play. This is great for their personal, social and emotional development as they learn to communicate effectively and be patient. The covering pieces are then replaced and each player places their elephant counter on a different starting point.

If you guess wrong, you lose a life and have to turn over a card, so that the red side is facing up. These feature four number tiles (1, 2, 3 and 4), four animal tiles (Dolphin, Frog, Ladybird and Lion) and four fruit tiles ( Plum, Apple, Strawberry and Lemon). This simply isn’t the case with Baffled; while the strategic depth is still there, none of the extensive rules or difficult introductions are.

Set in a penguin school, the 3D board is made up of 5 classrooms, using a unique ‘box in a box’ set up, and players use different flicking techniques to move their naughty penguin around corners and through doorways in the game board to win a fish, while the Hall Monitor tries to stop them. The idea of the game is that you remove all the covers, players spend 60 seconds memorising the position of the tiles and then the covers are all put back down. Unauthorized use and/or duplication of this material without express and written permission from this blog’s author and/or owner is strictly prohibited. You may remember where most are; but be prepared to be Baffled as the symbols constantly swap positions around the board; even when you think you know where every symbol is, you may have forgotten that it had been swapped a few turns back.Lots of truly amazing games with lots of depth are great fun to play but require lots of homework and an equally ‘read-up’ and captivated group of players to enjoy. But it’s great to have the option to adjust the number of lives according to age and ability, as necessary. Helps Improve Memory- Memory skills are not only a valuable life skill to develop but they are also incredibly useful for tests and exams.

This is an intriguing game, when reading the back of the box I really couldn't understand how the tiles 'swap' themselves, I couldn't wait to give it a go. Obstacles can be in a form of the complex movement of the pen on the board, a die that delays you from moving forward, and even closing your eyes to increase the difficulty. If the tile is guessed incorrectly, a player loses one of their Life cards and the last person to still have any cards left wins the game. There are ways around this, however; one way I’ve found is to increase the number of lives given to someone who might struggle, and likewise decrease the number of lives given to pros!

Having celebrated my fourth anniversary of unwrapping Baffled last Christmas, the past years have taught me a lot. In addition to this there are squares when a player can challenge another player (of their choosing) to state where a particular symbol is around the board. We’re pretty sure she would, but there’s also an edge of fear as we know what a good memory and eye for detail she can have! Baffled is one of those games where I made the mistake of just getting the rules leaflet out first and reading that in isolation to try to get to grips with the game. Another honourable mention has to be Baffled’s application of memory into the game, which makes it unique since it’s not something you see an awful lot in board games today.
