The last couple of books were “ok” but this one kept my attention and has to be the 1st book I didn’t want to end🙃! My problem wasn’t that it was similar similar to that “other book”, as book dupes doesn’t bother me much. But he GROWLS and tells you, "Say his name again, and I’ll bend you right over this table and fuck you until the only name you can say is mine. I really don’t know how it ended up feeling so sex-focused and surface level, but that was the case.The idea of living and working with Beck is already insane but now she’s supposed to be his smitten fiancée, too? The story follows Margo, a woman who is shocked to discover that her terrible ex’s older brother is her new boss.

I love little nods to previous books by an author, and this was such a cute way of telling us that this book is set in the same universe as her other series. Pair that with a workplace romance and fake fiancé plot (and ex-boyfriend’s older brother), and there’s a lot of push and pull going on.i give credit to his Taylor Swifts “Mastermind” themed plans because his obsession with the h and how he treats her throughout this book is the strongest point of Black Ties and White Lies. They were goals, and Beck is the boy-obsessed billionaire that everyone deserves 💸 The way he cared for and doted on Margo despite all the reasons he shouldn’t was everything 🤌 I also enjoyed the way Margo never made anything easy for him, and I thought that they complemented each other well. I loved the first interaction between the couple, and I was thinking, “this is ridiculous, I love it. There was a reference to Kat’s most recent series, the Mixtape series, right at the start of the book, and it made me smile. Books where the guy falls first/harder are always fun to read, and Beck definitely falls faster and harder than Margo.
