About this deal

The dough – it needs to be thin and crisp like a pie crust, but without any large flakes or golden coloring that ususally comes from a flakey pie dough. When the cold butter melts in the oven, it creates steam which helps the crust separate into flaky layers resulting in a nice, flaky crust. Now place one of the chilled pieces of dough over the top, seal the edges and crimp together with a fork. Use the back of a wooden spoon to smash the blueberries as much as you can (remove 1 teaspoon of juice and set it aside to use for the glaze). Toss with your hands to coat all the butter cubes, then smash each with your fingers to break them into small pieces, each no bigger than a pencil eraser.

this was my first time making pop tarts, and i’m always hesitant with pastry dough because i’ve never been able to nail it. On top of the regular icing, I mixed a little blueberry sauce to some icing and created a purple zig zag drizzle (below).Once these pop tarts come out of the oven, I drizzle blueberry flavored icing all over the top and add sprinkles for that extra touch. Blueberry Pop Tarts have a flaky pie crust filled with blueberry jam and topped with a sweet blueberry glaze. For Celebration Cakes and Slice Saturday Pre-Oreders: we currently have a collection system in place for certain dates and times at the bakery so that we can accomodate all areas of our work.

In my adaptation of this recipe, I cut out the ingredients that I wouldn’t want to use up on a baking project, while still keeping the same poptart-quality. Make sure to cut a small slit on the tops of the pop tarts to let out the extra steam from the blueberry filling. A plump, sweet blueberry filling wrapped inside a buttery flaky crust, these Blueberry Pop Tarts are a real breakfast treat. The process of making the blueberry filling is so simple and only requires you to simmer fresh blueberries with honey. You’ll add about 4-5 tablespoons of water until you see that the dough is just coming together and is starting to form a ball. Warm butter and water will create more of a crunch instead of that flaky crust you want for the pop-tarts. In a small mixing bowl, mix together powdered sugar, the liquid from the leftover blueberry jam, and water until the icing comes together. DELICIOUS: Whether you enjoy these for breakfast or a mid day snack, these blueberry pop tarts are a hit with everyone!

It's very important not to over-process the dough so that you still have very small lumps of visible butter in it when rolled out.Take the dough out of the fridge and use a toothpick to mark half of the pieces with a little rectangle inside them for the jam, about 1" from the edges. I’ll be serving these little cuties to a bunch of teenagers tomorrow and I know they’re going to love them! Who needs pancakes when you can pop this 2 pack of Frosted Blueberry Pop Tarts in the toaster for a hot and tasty brekkie.
