About this deal

BTW, it actually somehow reminds me of Creeds Millesime Imperial without the ambergris, so if you're a fan of that, this is a much cheaper alternative. For the first few days I didn't feel like putting it on because of the blue colour, and when I did put it on, the opening was so confusing. As I said though, I went through a full bottle of this over the next 1-2 years and had fond memories attached to this blue enigma.

Very much a very young guys scent, the opening is a headache inducing blast of that cheap "blue" oceanic sea note, that is done so much better elsewhere.

and reading comments here and elsewhere on-line about Ultramarine's femininity had made me a bit hesitant to purchase this. It is so maturely fresh and sharp, and the sharpness stays hours on my skin (even longer on fabric). So here it is - a comfortable, yet very familiar deja-vu that the masses accepted and bought - simply on the basis of it being accessible, safe. Forget about all those modern semi-sweet, semi-bland smooth cutie pie colognes and get this instead.

I can sense a touch of the original Givenchy Insense here, mainly from the floral heart, but this one is eminently more wearable and much more masculine. The evolution is linear on my skin, even though, it starts to get (rapidly) the freshness of mint notes and the mix of flowers. I have to admit that having worn the original Insense a bit uncomfortably and reading comments here and elsewhere on-line about Ultramarine's femininity had made me a bit hesitant to purchase this. This is primarily a floral fruity scent, beginning with watermelon and black currant, and magnolia, iris, carnation, cardamom and lily of the valley.

If Givenchy lowered the level of sweetness, and added some more salt instead, then maybe I would have loved to wear this one again. And I used it well-on those casual days, with jeans, blazer and pointy shoes-and a trail of Insense. But don’t worry, because this smell doesn’t remain for a long time on the skin, otherwise it would be too boring.

The only Insense worth owning is the original, non-Ultramarine version with the golden yellow juice and the silver-colored cap. The longevity is above the average, full 6-7 hours and the sillage is moderate but distinguishable in one meter radius. The scent notes are black currant and galbanum with bergamot and watermelon followed by magnolia and carnation with iris and mint. Finally, the base notes emit a warm and captivating trail, composed of earthy cedarwood, exotic sandalwood, and sensuous amber. After 30 minutes, you're left with what smells faintly "blue", the sort of airy-ness and oceanic mix that some people describe it as on here.

Got a 2ml sample in my secret scent box, it opens very fruity and I must say it is unique however for me it’s way too synthetic and feels cheap. When we talk about Givenchy, it’s hard not to believe that is about another highest quality cologne, isn’t it? anyway the current version (without Givenchy logo on box and bottle) seems to be considerably weaker (and less musky) than my older bottle even though it still survives several hours as a lovely aquatic-flowery skinscent.I can smell carnation if I look for it but otherwise I wouldn't think it's there at all, although I think it gives a bit of an edge to the scent. Happy too see a unique summer fragrance without any citrus/marine note, but this is a terrible perfume. Sort of cross between Chrome and Kenzo PH but much better and way more masculine than either of them.
