About this deal

As well as the main inflatable chambers, the Intex Challenger K1 comes with an inflatable seat and a separate inflatable foot rest.

I am so used to my inflatable ones now that I can’t remember what it’s like in a fibreglass one, but my friends do say that it feels a bit less responsive than proper kayaks. It has no scupper hole, so any water that comes into your craft is going to continue along with you. lbs each, which is not too heavy for an entry-level double paddle) definitely serve their purpose for beginners and are comfortable to paddle for short distances. I think because it’s so light, it can get pulled around a bit by the wind/waves, so you just have to put a little bit more effort in (which isn’t a bad thing! With the enclosed measuring strip, it can be checked whether there is enough air in the air chambers or whether one of them still needs to be pumped up. While all accidents cannot be prevented, practicing good safety habits, setting and following rules, carefully reading instruction manuals, and vigilant supervision can greatly reduce the likelihood of injury as well as reduce injury severity. A grab line at each end is provided for your convenience, as well as a cargo net for extra storage and a repair patch kit.

Though this kayak isn't our first choice for an eight-hour paddle upriver, it's fine for short excursions. However, my partner Alex is 6 foot tall (not sure how much he weights but he’s pretty slim/fit), and he felt more unstable and wobbly due to the weight. They were super fun to paddle, can totally be used to play bumper boats, and were even pretty comfortable. Because the seats are inflatable, too (though Josh preferred the lower part of his deflated so he could sit lower in the kayak), there’s a lot of cushion for your tush and the backrest can be easily adjusted. Definitely recommend it to all who wish to have not only a bit of family fun in the water, but also last minute solo adventures down the river.

Additionally, if you decide to inflate the boat at your car and walk it down to the water fully set up, it comes with ropes along the bow and stern to quickly pick it up and go. As the pump is relatively small, it takes a little while to inflate the boat completely, despite the double-stroke function.

This means that your pump inflates both on the upwards and downwards strokes so you get maximum results for the least effort. Just received a Challenger as a gift (I have two other inflatable kayaks and like you are hooked, their convenience and fun factor), it sounds like you are not unscrewing the boston valve to deflate, which it does rapidly, once these are unscrewed. The Intex Challenger K2 Kayak is sporty and fun with a streamlined 2 seater design for easy paddling. Remembering to attach this skeg is key, as a troop of Girl Scouts found out by repeatedly capsizing without it. To give some context, I am a 5’6″ female weighing around 9 stone, and I have never fallen out of this kayak, or even had any experiences where I felt like I was going to, even in slightly choppier waters.A removable skeg provides exceptional directional movement, while an adjustable, inflatable seat with a backrest is included for comfortable seating. If by chance you do end up in the water, then the Challenger K1 is extremely buoyant, floating to the surface and self-bailing before you re-enter. The Intex Challenger K1 has a removable skeg included in the package, this is ideal for aiding directional stability and helping the kayak to track in a straight line.
