About this deal

For us, it wasn’t that great a feature as none of my son’s friends have a LeapPad3 and his cousin has an older version, which doesn’t have the option. The paper instructions with the LeapPad3 are quite minimal and include one diagram of the tablet’s various buttons and slots, and a few paragraphs on settings. I love there that there are such a huge range of games, music and audio books available for children up to 12 years old.

I think this is a great way introduce kids to the internet and it’s good to know all the content on there is kids safe. Designed to be the perfect first tablet experience, I was concerned how L would get on with the LeapPad3. Comedian Michael McIntyre said in a sketch that if there are parents out there raising kids without iPads then he doesn’t understand how they’re doing it.If anything, I found trying to choose quite overwhelming but LeapFrog has helpfully created bundles and categories such as learning games, eBooks, foreign languages and many more to make the decision easier. I loved playing the games almost as much as my toddler, as you get praised constantly when you complete a task! Once installed you can connect the used LeapPad to your computer and the connect software should see it. One of the things I love about LeapFrog is their neutral Green branding, so I was a little shocked to receive a Pink one. It is chunky so it certainly doesn’t feel light – but my three-year-old was perfectly comfortable holding it.

Features Wi-Fi, rechargeable battery, AC Adapter, 4GB memory, parent controls, capacitive screen, two 2 mp cameras and video Play for 7 hours with the rechargeable builit-in lithum battery Discover exciting experiences and thrilling adventures with LeapPad3 from LeapFrog. It’s actually been great for helping my 6 year old with her reading, as there are lots of different messages you can send. My only niggles (although it doesn’t matter to my niece) is that the language is American rather than British so some things may be slightly different from what she is taught at nursery and school (for example period instead of full stop, but maybe that’s just me). Another WiFi feature is Pet Chat – This allows LeapPad3 users to send messages to each other (like texting) via wifi. First you will need to set up the Parent Account to have control of the unit followed by the child account. No, the weight of the LeapPad3 is 385 g which is around the same as a Kindle HD Fire Kids tablet, which weighs 360g with its kid-proof case. Everyone loves decorating their photos with funny masks and accessories, my 4 year old’s favourite feature is shaking her picture so it all gets jumbled up. Its curved edges and the thoughtful placement of the home button, directional movement button and the on/off switch and volume meant it was easy for my son to handle the tablet. The LeapPad is designed to be handled, shall we say robustly, by not-so delicate little hands, with its bright green bumper and shatter-proof screen. As part of the Leapfrog blogger panel, my girls were lucky enough to be sent one of the new Leappad3 learning tablets to try out.

It is wi-fi enabled (parent controlled by a password) and has 100% kid-safe internet which only gives access to Leapfrog’s pre-approved age-appropriate content such as video, stories, games etc… so no need to worry about what the kids might accidently stumble across using the internet. I even found it a bit glitchy using the stylus as occasionally game features wouldn’t follow through without a few taps. Choose from hundreds of fun learning games, eBooks, apps, videos, music and more—designed by learning experts, just for children!Education is very important and LeapFrog’s LeapPad 3 is a great tool to help entertain and educate young children. It lasted well and we only needed to charge it once during a long weekend in Madrid, despite my son using it for the airport, the flight and during the break.

The fact that you can get an apps about everything from phonics to learning about trajectory is pretty amazing. When the MomSelect team offered to let us try out the new Leap Frog LeapPad 3 – I checked it out and knew it was a perfect fit for Maggie. For my son, the best pre-loaded app was without doubt the Pet Pad Party – which allows children to create their own cute monkey, dog, cat, penguin, unicorn or other pet, give it a name, colour and play a series of games with their new pal.You are currently visiting the United States LeapFrog site, which doesn't appear to match your current location. She was delighted when the LeapPad 3 arrived for review as she loves playing on a tablet and now she has her own that she can get educational value out of with things that she already learns at nursery and will help her through nursery and into bigger school.
