When using the AC327 baby movement monitor, I found the wireless Sensor Pad is useful, as is the fact you can recharge both the parent unit and nursery unit. I know you obviously haven't tried it properly yet with baby not arrived yet Which model did you go for?

Recently I spent the evening with a friend who has a sensor mat and the alarm went off one night and she went in to find her 6 month old not breathing. According to the angelcare ac1300 we have bought there needs to be a 30cm gap between the two beds so that the sensor doesn't pick up your movements. However, its height isn’t adjustable so the surface needs to be higher than the cot for the camera to point down into it.

The video ones are all well and good but your not going to see them not breathing when your asleep so i'd be constantly watching looking for movement.
