About this deal

The first time I smelled it, I was completely intimidated by it and simultaneously bewildered by it.

I feel giggly and naive, but upon wearing it I become assertive, dominant, I become that which I desire. Jack_Hunter is right, all the challenging aspects are gone, there's nothing sharp or powerful about this. Aramis to young guys in the US is what Eau Sauvage is to young guys in France and Germany; a cologne that starts you off in the world of scent. A steadfast knight throughout the decades, NEVER going out of style as evidenced by his high volume turnover, world-bloody-wide.

It's really hard to fairly judge something so old in these terms, but being a splash, I'd say staying power is very similar to the newer spray. Aramis Eau de Toilette is a woody and aromatic scent for Men, opening with top notes of aldehydes, artemsia, gardenia and bergamot, blending with a heart of patchouli, sage, orris root and cardamom, all of which sits on top of a smooth base of leather, sandalwood, amber and musk. Well, this scent stays much less active to the point that you can't even smell it after 3-4 hours without smelling it directly on the spot. It's managed to stay current for numbers of generations, and for some of us, it was our first 'adult' cologne.

Well, everybody can say what they like and how it's not liked by woman and it smells like urine (really? I now have 20 different kinds of Aramis on my shelf along with do many other fragrances -(Hogo boss, Joop, Calvin klein etc. I think like most American guys, we've (many of us) grew up with some Aramis in the house, and probably wore it once in a while. It's a big, ballsy, elegant, luxurious, exclusive fragrance that reeks of rugged masculinity and individualism, excess, glamour and unashamed careerism, materialism, strength, power, dominance, and a carefree life of success and gives off a vibe of climbing the socio-economic ladder and making it big in life.

I have a partial bottle left over from the 70's which smells slightly more animalic and perhaps a bit more mellow than the current version, but that may be due to its extreme age.

I must say, though, that it has never smelled as arousing on any man as much as it does on my original Aramis man. I wouldn't say this is necessarily going to be a go-to for the office for someone who's under the age of 35, but it definitely is safe for the office as it isn't really that animalic or brash. It's not going anywhere, will not move, will not falter, will not give in, will not compromise, will not apologize for what and who it is, and completely dominates and overpowers the landscape.

None other than Sean Connery's James Bond 007 wore Aramis Classic EDT in the Bond movie "Diamonds Are Forever" (released in 1971). Sure i will not use every day and sure i have many more scents, but this one is the real perfume in my opinion. It's still a completely different olfactory experience and for a challenge, spray this on your hand and try to identify at least 3-5 ingredients and at the end when you read the list of them all, the result will surprise you :) Sometimes it's simple it's wonderful to smell such an old legend, which can remind us all of the achievements they were able to make in the golden 60s/70s without today's laboratories and computers! The Aramis potion is fortifying its mystique alongside the smell of garlic and ginger imbedded in the pads of my fingers from cooking dinner.
