About this deal

Initially, I was not able to use raspi-config tools to run the boot configuration, so I had to refrain from the old method and update the EEPROM manually. All the other files, with the exception of the rtc configuration file have been moved into /etc/argoneon. When we then powered down the unit and rebooted, we were met with total silence: no fans or lights going.

A long time ago, I read and article about air flow from fans in a case with a obstructed air inlet/outlet… the gist of the article was… if the barrier is around 1 hub diameter away from the obstruction, the airflow was improved. This has worked well, but I would like to clean up my network a bit (less devices, more organized, less maintenance, less complexity). As Raspberry Pi 4 removed the primary bottleneck by introducing 1Gbit Ethernet it’s officially “enough” for home use (and enterprise if you are into clusters). My EON is running as a NAS drive as well as a plex media server in it’s current setup and I have plans to test if it can expand to host a couple of security cameras as well. Sure the project load time was a bit longer, and skipping the video to the next timeline stamp takes one second longer than usual, but this NAS is more than usable.

Seems to be quite a bit faster but some things changed like the USB ports being switched, which makes it impossible to use it with the EON because it would mean using the HDDs with a USB2.A fan provides cooling for the entire unit, and the top-mounted power switch is a small OLED screen that can be customised to display anything, such as IP address or CPU temperature.

Turns out that setting "0" for "Turn OFF OLED Screen when unchanged after X secs," which says "0 for MANUAL". New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . To be clear, you could absolutely use a 2GB version instead, I just happened to have a couple of boards available to pick from. port to connect to all 4 drives and the transfer speed will be limited to what the CPU can handle too. I know it's only one side out of six, and not the biggest side at that, but it might make a teeny-tiny difference in drive temp.I’m just trying to install the scripts, however installation process hangs, apparently while starting argononed. I read a lot today in the How To's and the FAQ for the Nextcloud installation and i also tried the first installation but i failed. Tom's Hardware is part of Future US Inc, an international media group and leading digital publisher. now i'm worried, if it really is that simple (apart from the reverse proxy issue) why isn't it the default solution? The case exposes the entire IO – including USB ports, and a micro SD card slot, and transforms the micro HDMI ports present on the Raspberry Pi 4 boards into regular HDMI ports.

You can build a NAS that competes with much more expensive options, and it looks like something from a sci-fi movie. As a content creator, I hoard every video I make which isn’t particularly helping, but even for me, 16TB is a lot of space.

I can now sleep more calmly knowing that my Argon Eon is less prone to micro SD card corruption and potential data loss. To power everything up a 12V 5A DC power brick is included in the package an IEC C13 Mains adapter cable is required and available separately. Argon Eon will draw more than a typical Raspberry Pi board, but considerably less than any NAS made from old PC parts. If you want your home server not only capable of huge storage and Raspberry Pi performance, but also as something great to look at, this is for you.
