Every single one of these books deals with some heavy hitting themes; sexism, racism, classism, they’re feminist, scathing reviews of the people who fear anything remotely different, hard hitting at times and with scenes that might make some people feel uncomfortable, and they should. Many young children respond to a mother's "mood" long before she herself is consciously aware of its existence. I love how simple each picture is but how well the emotion and anger of the kitten is shown, which looks good with the red text throughout. They learn by doing over and over again -- by repetition -- and this doing is often initiated by imitation.When health is preponderant, we are fortunate indeed -- as we are when the emotional climate in which we were brought up, in which we live, and which we provide for our children promotes health.
